Aetosaurs make nice fossils because their osteoderms are robust and fossilize well. The trouble is it's hard to see how they're put together on the inside without destroying the armor...unless you CT scan them!



This paper does just that and uses the data gleaned from the skeleton to try to find Coahomasuchus's place in the aetosaur phylogeny.
