From the Permian of North America, meet Mesenosaurus efremovi, a new varanopid stem-mammal (wayyy down the stem). Its similarity to M. romeri from Russia led the authors to include it in the same genus, although a ceratopsid or theropod taxonomist would probably have given it a new genus. Really nice set of fossils, in any event:
