R.I.P. Irrfan Khan - Jurassic World's Simon Masrani, Passes At Age 53

R.I.P. to Indian Television and Film actor Irrfan Khan, Jurassic World's Simon Masrani, who passed away on April 29th, 2020, as a result of complications arising from a colon infection. He was 53.

Best known in the West for his roles in Life Of Pi, Inferno, The Amazing Spider-Man and Slumdog Millionaire, he was much-loved in his home country, and earned India's National Award for Best Actor in 2011, for his turn as a Bandit-turned-Soldier in Paan Singh Tomar.

It can be assured that his star was on the rise in the West, until diagnosis with, and treatment for a neuroendocrine tumor in 2018 slowed his career.

He will be missed.

Khan's Masrani, a decent, well meaning man, out of his depth, but with a good heart, reminded me very much of Sir Richard Attenborough's John Hammond, and I could see the two being friends, as well as business associates in the Park they both loved. Masrani is one of my favorite characters in Jurassic World. I do wish we could have gotten to know the character more.

Of all his roles I've been able to watch, his JW Masrami had the most impact for me.  Mostly because he was a clone of my manager (at the time JW was screening)... my cinema seatmates were probably wondering why I'd burst out in giggles every time he's on screen.  It was a clone of my boss from appearance to eccentricities.

I've never been one to be attached to actors, but I did feel sad coming out of quarantine to this news.

I was shocked. We had just watched Inferno this week. R.I.P. to a fantastic actor.

Too young to die that endearing actor. At first I thought it was because of the coronavirus.

This year honestly sucks so much. I will truly miss this man. I loved the films he played roles in (I've seen most of them). My condolences to his family and friends.

He was my favorite human character in the Movie. He was from India, like me. This really sucks.
