The more I look at the Saurian rex, the more i'm falling in love with it. There are obviously some wood stork influences, the big bear lips look really nice, and the absolute massive attention to detail is stunning. I also love the color scheme, it's dull but not boring, it patterns look like light refracting through water.

Yeah, I like the design well enough, it still has lips, and I like the inclusion of the raptor-style tongue from one of RJ's other designs. But, no feathers at all? That looks a little off. This being WIP, I have to assume that some degree of bristly integument will be added in the future.
I would love to see a tyrannosaurid in the same kind of mummified state much like some hadrosaurids.I would love to see what the head was like in life. That way we could really see whether or not they had "lips".I take a lot of indirect inferences from skulls like those on popular blog sites with a ton of salt.
In much the same way that the internet fans "knew for sure" tyrannosaurids were extensively covered in feathers 2 years ago,the same internet fans now just "know" they had "lips" when it is still something they may or may not have had in life.

It's not really about "being sure" just that lips are the default in most animals and having giant exposed snaggle teeth like a crocodile usually means some kind of selective pressure for them to have it. It's very much possible for T. rex and co. to have a JP-like smile, but for now the safest bet is lips.

So I just got an email asking to confirm my shipping address. Looks like the physical rewards I've been waiting for a long time now are going to be shipping soon (once they are finished).

Anatosaurus/Edmontosaurus looks like it will be in the game soon too, in case anyone was looking forward to seeing that one.

Halichoeres

I got the art book and it is gorgeous. I'm especially pleased with the sections on plants, fishes, and smaller tetrapods (turtles, mammals, lizards, etc.). Really a treat.
In the kingdom of the blind, better take public transit. Well, in the kingdom of the sighted, too, really--almost everyone is a terrible driver.

Maybe a little off topic, however I think it is appropriate to talk about it here.

I purchased the digital copy of the book and recently realized that some of the pages work very well for dioramas backgrounds.

I'm not going to post any photos, because whenever I use a camera the result is always a complete fiasco. But if anyone is interested and wants to give a try, the pages 38, 46 (half page), 51 and 54 are some of my favorites due to the absence of fauna.

Ooh, very cool idea! I have the physical copy, so I can't try it myself, but I'd love to see what other people come up with!

Just got my book a few days ago! It's a bit smaller than I thought it would be, but it's still big enough for the art to look good, and it's got a really high page count, so it still feels like a "big" book in terms of content!

Was checking my email when I saw there was another Kickstarter update from Saurian. After reading it I am really appalled. Why does it seem every indie dinosaur game has something shady going on with it? Ugh. I'm so disgusted something like this has happened. Anyone who backer this should be aware.
