I'm going to do research on methyl methacrylate. I know the popular methods for stripping painted metal or plastic gaming figures are a long soak in either Dettol or isopropyl alcohol. Both quite smelly but I find the former a lot, lot worse than the latter. Maybe these only work on modern acrylic paint and Invicta's are painted with something different, but there's no harm in trying (I think!)

I tried acetone but it made the figures matte. After washing with Methacrylate they returned to their original shine

E: For 5 years I searched everywhere for these unique colors on all portals. And all I had to do was wash the paint off!
