Eocene bat fossils from Wyoming help understand early bat diversification

Been fascinated with the genus for a long time (and wanting a figure of one still), so glad to see them discover a second older species. Paper appears to not be paywalled either (was linked at the bottom). The specimens are beautifully preserved.

As I was reading that article another one caught my eye, with the oldest freshwater shrimp found yet in the similar Eocene Messel pit. Somehow I missed this last year I think. Sharing it here too in case folks are interested.

Anyways back to the bats, I hope they discover something even older, since these still look very much like bats despite some traits like the longer tails. Like before the fingers on bats were used for wings.
