It is stated that skin impression from Allosaurus has been found before but not in these particular areas of the body.

"Other Allosaurus have been found with skin impressions in the past, but ours contains skin from parts of the body yet to be preserved. The skin is leathery and has scales like the feet of chickens or the body of crocodiles, not overlapping scales like lizards," said Joseph Frederickson, lead paleontologist at the museum, in the release.

The Jurassic Mile's Allosaurus is showing a lot of skin in areas where impressions have never been found before. Rooney said they've identified skin impressions around the legs, but also the hips, chest and neck of their Allosaurus.

Could be a while before we get a paper on the integument they found, since it appears to still be under preparation. Well I'd hope they take their time. I wonder what this means for the recently released PNSO Saurophaganax, Cyberzoic/BotM Allosaurus, etc.

I'm also not positive, but I'm guessing the texture around the leg bones here is the skin (lots of artifacts when zooming in).



Edit: I also wonder if having articulated gastralia is going to change up skeletal reconstructions drastically. Like what happened with T. rex in the past decade.
