lol good catch! I have to spray that whip scorpion's tank daily with water to keep humidity high so I knock it over on occasion

I assume you refer to the Kaiyodo Mega Sofubi version? I dunno, maybe Favorite Co will make a vinyl version one day.

I really searched far and wide for the mega sofubi blue whale to no avail. I ended up just getting the PNSO blue whale due to my mid-life crisis. I don't regret the purchase but I also don't think about the cost either. 😬😬😬

It's an insanely impressive piece in person, but I also wish the other 1/35 blue whale was still available.

Oh wow, that IS impressive!

The PNSO and Kaiyodo models are great, I thought for years I would end up getting one of them but delayed it since the Kaiyodo prices are crazy on the secondary market for what you get and the PNSO seemed too spacious for display since my space does not permit for roof hanging like in your setup.

Fortunately I managed to this week get a hold of one of the limited edition Sumeru studio blue whales, a good quality model meeting a middle ground, since it has a display stand it can fit in the background of the space I have planned out. Having this model now in hand it's even better then I hoped for, the wife even declared it a piece of art, while all the dinosaurs and other 1:35 mammals, resin models included, have been consequently been referred to as "toys"  8)

Quote from: Rayeknor on July 24, 2025, 01:32:57 AMIt is similar in size to the PNSO model, at about 92cm along the centra adding up to a ~32m individual. Sorry for the rushed photos with indoor lighting, it does not do the model any justice. Cameos by 1:35 African elephant and dude.

For mammals I would definitively like options for more high quality 1:35 whales, bowhead, sperm whale and orcas in particular.

@ Rayeknor

Awesome model and congrats! It looks much more realistically colored than the PNSO behemoth. Are you able to remove it from its stand?

Speaking of 1/35 whales do you want to see an embarrassing atrocity? Look at the 1/35 PNSO sperm whale... I mean seriously, what happened there? I don't know how you could screw up a living animal so badly but it's one of the most obscenely deformed models I've ever seen.

That really is a...peculiar sperm whale, kind of a shame (sometimes I wanna get a new model of one (maybe the CollectA) since I really like those guys but tbh the recent-ish Schleich one is doing its job pretty well)

As for the poll itself, definitely feeling Basilosaurus, Megatherium and Ambulocetus. You'd think with how popular it is there'd be more figures of Basilosaurus but none really did it for me. The Safari toob one is the only one I own and it's really neat but also very small, the CollectA one is fine but isn't quite there and the PNSO one is a bit out of my price range lol

You know what would be awesome to have? We have so many transitional fossils from land dwelling "whales" to semi aquatic, then aquatic, then aquatic and ocean dwelling" that it would be awesome to have figures of each stage of that transition from most basal to most recent. Obviously it wouldn't represent a perfect gradient because the fossil record is incomplete but I would nonetheless love to have a shelf containing models of that general evolutionary trend. This would be a great idea for Eofauna.

Are you able to remove it from its stand?

Yes, it is one mostly solid seamless piece of resin, about 9kg but somehow there is a metal surface inside the hole where the stand tip fits to prevent wear over time when inserting and removing the stand, you can also swivel the figure around when the stand is inserted. I assume the resin was poured around that hollow metal piece to avoid any seams on the model.

Definitely more Terror Birds and more species of Felids (Cave Lion, Dinofelis and Homotherium, something akin to what Eofauna did with Proboscideans).

Sivatherium and Thylacoleo would be a great welcome and would add more variety to collections. Its such a bummer that Southlands discontinued their Thylacoleo figure.

Also regarding Cave Lion and Dire Wolf. They must have figures and there is a way to make them work and be distinct from contemporary Lions and Wolfs.

Also more Glyptodons.
