A question of scale for the PNSO Machairoceratops

hey all

I am trying to calculate scale on the PNSO Macharoceratops. The original description says the 'horncores' are 27 cm. Is that the base of the horn or the entire horn? If it is the entire horn, the figure's supraorbital horns are 2.2 cm which would make the scale 1:12.3 (which doesn't sound right).

avatar_Halichoeres @Halichoeres calculated his figure at 1:20-1:25 in his collection thread while avatar_Gwangi @Gwangi calculated his at 1:35 for his Blog review (I assume based on perceived body length).

Assuming the horncore is something internal that cannot be calculated on a figure, any other good metrics for this genus?

Thanks much!

The PNSO Machairoceratops has horns that elongate quite far past the horn cores, so it's hard to measure. I feel like trying to measure based on frill height (minus the frill horns) might be the only sensible approach in this case?

OK thanks. I'll review the original description and compare and calculate when I get home tonight. Thank you!

The horncores are just the bone core of the horns, so not with keratin extending them.

OK I did it again like this and got 1:22.3

thanks!

Even though I am a professional scientist I HATE math lol

What with the Safari ceratopsians and and so many of the PNSO ones, it appears that the 1/25 point, give or take, has become very common for this clade. I'm getting less and less pre-occupied with that 1/35 "standard". Just like the erstwhile 1/40 one, it seems.

Halichoeres

A couple of PNSO's new ceratopsians are on their way to me now. I wonder if they'll be similarly oversized compared to their nominal scale.
