 :'( That's sad news. I have always admired his work and his personality.
I'm also half Swiss and I enjoyed some of Giger's exhibitions. I also have his books.

Very sad...but he left his organic body, his legacy will be forever. He created a creature that make a hit and change they way to make creatures.

Sad news.  I hope some day to travel to Zurich and see his work in person.
