I had been waiting to post this one, until it was settled and done, so I think it would be alright to do so now. Recently I had discussed with Halichoeres the idea that since he lived in Chicago and might have access to Paul Sereno, that I was in the market to have Sereno autograph a Carnegie Psittacosaurus for my collection. Halichoeres verified with me, how I would like it signed, and what was required for verification of the signature...I requested a shot of Sereno in the act of signing the figure, as my authentication.
Unless you read alot of science papers or are a fan of Paul Sereno, you probably would not know that he did his college thesis on Psittacosaurus. He also was the person that discovered the species Psittacosaurus Meileyingensis, which most commercial specimens of the dinosaur tend to be, as well as my own. Aside from that I liked Sereno for his work on Pegomastax as well, so he was quite high on my list of desired signatures.
Halichoeres pulled it off in style and nicely done !!! I was amazed at the final result. Oh and I did keep my promise and give him a nice reward for his time and effort.......the pictures were taken by Halichoeres but they tell the story nicely. Delighted to make a new friend, and for the help with my collection as well. I can say this little dinosaur will have a nice spot in my collection !!
With the acquisition within the last thirty days of both Paul Sereno, and Ken Carpenter, to this collection, my next move will be to start trying to figure out a method to land a signature from Philip Currie.....anyone have any contact with this one?
PS  thanks for your help Halichoeres, that was awesome

Congratulations that is a great catch and nice of Halichoeres to arrange it. When I met Paul Sereno at the ROM where he gave a talk there was a pre-talk meet and greet that you had to line up for. It was like we were waiting for a rock star except when you met him he was genuine and attentive. I got him to sign the Suchomimus page in the exhibit catalogue and got my picture with him as well.
I'll e-mail you on Phil Currie.
Sereno uses a different version of his last name for Facebook, but I had found him and have him as a friend, and had inquired directly by both private message and a direct posting to his page if he might consider signing a psittacosaurus, but he had never responded. I assume with all the pressures and busy life he has , it is simpler to avoid too many promises or committments.
I have always enjoyed reading his interviews and ideas, and think he has done alot for the world of paleontology. I know at one point I think People Magazine voted him or maybe him and his wife, their most exciting people of the year or something similar.
Regarding Currie, I fired him off an email, stay tuned. Anybody have thoughts what figure he would be best requested to sign? A quick mental toss around gave me...Carnegie Albertosaurus.....ideas or input anyone?

Did he happen to question why you were asking for, of all things a psittacosaurus, signed by him? Many collectors go for the raptors and theropods, or might have chosen Nigersaurus (if I remember right) or some other animal. Not many would know to come at him with his college thesis topic....I wondered if he asked or mentioned any of that.

He didn't ask, but he did say, "Psittacosaurus! My favorite!" and said he did his PhD work on it (if I recall correctly), which, thanks to you, I already knew. I imagine you're right that most people would bring him something from North Africa (Sarcosuchus, Kaprosuchus, Nigersaurus, Deltadromeus, Carcharodontosaurus).

A few other names in case anyone has connections...the Larson brothers would be an awesome acquisition on a tyrannosaurus sculpt....and if perhaps anyone has firm connects to Ibrahim, a signed Spinosaurus would be a superb idea. Currently working to send Darren Tanke a Pachyrhino to sign already....anyone have any other suggestions?

I don't know about Peter Larson but Neal was very quick to respond to an inquiry I recently emailed to him about his ammonite book.

Would you consider sharing the email address privately perhaps?Or shove me in a general direction where i might find it for myself?

Actually if it is my Pachyrhinosaurus then that would be perfect for Currie as well since he, Darren and Wann Langston Jr. co-authored the monograph on P. lakustai that I used as my main reference. Maybe you could get the triumvirate.
"A New Horned Dinosaur from an Upper Cretaceous Bone Bed in Alberta"
If it's not mine then that's a different story.....

Was working the show I do once a year with my group and was doing admissions at the door and ran right into ...Mike Everhart. Had a brief conversation with him...Yes he knows our own Dr. Admin !! (A good friend apparently, and brilliant researcher.) Yes he has seen the new paper !! Yay Dr. Admin again ! He then said...yes he (Dr. Admin) studies the older pleisiosaur types that are much older than the ones that he (Mike Everhart) studies from Kansas. Of course....so I said of course  ( I did not know that myself so......)
I inquired if he was still spending alot of time at the Sternberg museum and he said he is there now and then. My idea was to get my foot in the door and get a few extra Tylosaurus figures from Carnegie signed if such a thing was plausible. As it is one of the most liked Carnegies and Mr. Everhart was the consultant.....I did arrange it so I can do this, and I really may only send him one more myself so if anyone else wants in.....let me know. This isnt about making any money, just helping anyone else that wants a figure signed so feel free.
