I like Recur, they have a certain charm to them unlike Geoworld. I just wish there is a place to order them here in the US

The free shipping method is really slow but it's tracked.

I'm always surprised by how varied individual taste can be. There are figures here with quite a few votes that don't appeal to me at all. I guess that's what makes this poll interesting.

There are more than 100 figures in that poll (as in many similar polls).
I don't have ALL those figures into my collection.
And (I guess) none of the voters.
It means that people are voting for figures without seeing them with their eyes.
It's not possible to judge a three-dimensional model by other's pictures.
The ONLY way to judge a sculpted figure is with your own eyes, with the model in your hands.
It's like voting for the best book without reading ALL the other books, or the best car without driving ALL the other cars or the best wine without tasting ALL the others.
It makes no sense.
A 2D picture can't tell the truth about a 3D figure ( ..and I'm a photographer, so..).
Often people vote only for what they bought or for what they will buy soon.
Simply it's not meaningful.

There's a lot of truth in what you say. I know you have a pretty large library of dinosaurs so you can definitely vouch for that. I've noticed that a number of WS and CollectA models appear better in person. Some of that charm disappears in 2D images. Also, the camera lens, in and of itself, causes some texture warping ("objects in the mirror are closer than they appear")--- in some cases, enough to make a difference in perceiving a model as "meh" to "good enough" (to purchase).

Robin - I don't think those are apt comparisons. Wines are enjoyed by drinking, cars by driving and books by reading. Toys/models/figures are primarily enjoyed by viewing, at least by most adult collectors. Seeing a photo of a dino toy is very nearly as good as seeing it on my shelf in my apartment (in fact sometimes they look even better - I have rather dim lighting). Sure it's nice to be able to see the underside when you have it in hand as people rarely post pictures from that angle, but knowing this manufacturers rarely put much detail into that area anyway. I certainly think it's reasonable to form an opinion of a dinosaur figure by looking at photos online, especially with the abundance that are posted here. And I don't think it's fair to say that people can't form their opinion based off of any criteria they choose and that there's only ONE TWUE WAY to do anything. For example, someone might vote only for (insert company here) because they want to express support for that company because they like what they do in general, even if they don't actually believe every one of their figures is better than everything else on the list. And their vote counts just as much as yours or mine. I voted for a lot of marine reptiles because I want to see more of those, despite the fact that I know there were more detailed and scientifically accurate figures this year than my selections.

..well, in the last part of your post you're saying exactly what I'm thinking: people often vote for various reasons, not judging a figure but what is important for him/her about collecting.
And I'm not saying that it is wrong or right: I'm simply saying that it's not meaningful (aka: it's only a pleasant game for DTF Members).
That's all.

About your first part ( " Toys/models/figures are primarily enjoyed by viewing "), you focused the exact point.
As a photographer, I shouldn't say that pictures aren't the right way to judge a thing but it is so..
I have another big passion: art (as a viewer, of course..)
Seeing paintings on books (even expensive art books) is totally different from seeing them with your eyes.
Same thing for sculpture.
Let's try to see a Vermeer or a Rembrandt painting ( or a Hokusai's watercolor ) on books and live: it's a totally different experience.
Even more for a Michelangelo or a Giacometti statue because of the third dimension that's totally lost on pictures.
Finest details are usually lost on photographs (unless you're seeing a 1mt x 1mt print done by an excellent pro camera).

In my collection I have lots of figures that are way better than how I can see by pictures.

So, I'm not telling that there is only one true way to do something.
I'm just saying that it's only a funny game between DTF members.
The poll will say what's the most popular figure of 2016. Not the best.
And it's just my point of view.

I think all that is totally valid. I titled the thread "top 10" because that's what we've always done here, but I used the word "favorite" in the poll itself to avoid the claim that we are choosing the "best." I doubt many people would argue that the top 10 songs on pop radio are actually the 10 best pieces of music released in a given interval. So yes, it's for fun, not a definitive listing of which are objectively best (if that were true, there are several companies I wouldn't have bothered to include, even some that got plenty of votes).
