Hey friends,

In November 2013, my then-girlfriend(now my fiancée) had to go to San Antonio for business and asked me to come along. Needing to find things to occupy my time while she was attending her conference, I found out there was a dinosaur exhibit at a large mall within walking distance from our downtown hotel. As you can see, it turned out to be fantastic! I'd never seen a mounted Saurophagonax or Torvosaurus before.

Sadly, the exhibit closed last month due to mall renovation. I don't know if or when it'll reappear. Sure glad I got the chance to tour it. Enjoy the photos!

Why the fossil placed in a mall ? for exhibition ? :) most of indonesia museum only have a few fossil of dinosaur, in indonesia there is a lot of prehistoric human fossil

amargasaurus cazaui

Suspy may be able to clarify further but I do not think those were actual fossils...most of them appear to be cast resins and replicas from what I can tell. I did notice the proto skull looks very authentic in particular and ...curse my luck but I only noticed a single shot of the Bactrosaurus, which of all the animals present is the one I would most love to see from many angles. Amazing display and lots of work you did bringing it for us Suspy, thanks for sharing this !!!!
Authors with varying competence have suggested dinosaurs disappeared because of meteorites...God's will, raids by little green hunters in flying saucers, lack of standing room in Noah's Ark, and palaeoweltschmerz—Glenn Jepsen

suspsy

I didn't ask the girl at the front desk, but I'm certain they were all casts. Thanks, amargasaurus. And you're right, I ought to have taken at least one more photo of the Bactrosaurus. That was another one I'd never seen on display before.

These are fantastic photos. and these Skeletons are Awe inspiring to me.

suspsy

Thank you. I hadn't looked at these photos in a long time before I posted them here. Sure am glad I went to see that display. It's a real shame they had to close it down.

Is this a permanent thing at the mall or a traveling attraction?

Jetoar

[Off Nick and Eddie's reactions to the dinosaurs] Oh yeah "Ooh, aah", that's how it always starts. But then there's running and screaming.

{about the T-Rex) When he sees us with his kid isn't he gonna be like "you"!?

Suspy, is that Mamenchisaurus a Juvenile? it looks pretty small

suspsy

The exhibit didn't specify, but I assume it's a juvenile. Perhaps a M. youngi.

These skeletal look like they're made by the same company that has done other skeletals; However, I have never seen the hands fixed to their correct position before; like, I have seen these exact casts in other places but with the bunny hands pose, rather impressive that they fixed them.

I'd sure to love to know what happened to these mounts after the exhibit closed down.
