Hi everyone,

So my son is obsessed with dinosaurs, and we've decided (as a surprise) to go with a dinosaur themed room for him. Does anyone have any good ideas as to what kind of things we could include?

There's lots of good dinosaur posters, dinosaur bookends, I'm sure there are dinosaur bedsheets...

Yes, we've been looking into things like bookends and bedsheets... we were also thinking of doing something elaborate with a piece of furniture?

His favourite dinosaur is the Brachiosaurus and the only furniture big enough to paint that on is the wardrobe.

We've got this one: http://www.prams.net/pinolino-nina-wardrobe and so now need to buy the paint to use on it. Is there a particular kind of paint I should be using on this wardrobe? We've been looking at your standard furniture paint: http://www.diy.com/search/results/?question=furniture+paint but I really don't know if it will work well to paint a specific design onto it?

Are we being too ambitious with the Brachiosaurus? Should we maybe go for something simple like footprints? Though we were thinking that the footprints might be a cool addition to the carpet... if we can find anything like that, that is.

How about wallpaper? You could even do stencils with dinosaur silhouettes if you're going to be painting the wall instead. I'm sure that someone, somewhere will do dinosaur curtain material, too... ;)

I don't know exactly what your kid likes, but when I was a dinosaur loving kid, I liked making habitats for my Dinos to live in. So rather than having everything branded with commercial dinosaur images, maybe more of entering into the dinosaurs world? Footprints would make a lot of sense with that too. If Brachiosaurus is his favorite than that could be the main dinosaur feature. What sort of things does your son tell you about brachiosaurus, because you may be able to make that part of the scene, eating tall trees for example?

List ideas

•Painting ferns on the wall
•Hanging pterosaurs or plesiosaur from the ceiling
• footprints (as you said)
• a dinosaur toy only shelf
• a bunk bed to be up high with the brachiosaur
