This paper re-examines the Haarlem specimen of Archaeopteryx and finds that it's not a very good Archaeopteryx. It's given a new name: Ostromia crassipes

Very interesting!  Of course it's not the first time Archaeopteryx has been split, but it's odd no one noticed the differences of this specimen sooner, seeing how heavily studied Archaeopteryx is.  Curious to know what some anchiornithid experts like Andrea Cau have to say, though we'll probably have to wait until he's done reveling in his penguin-raptor.  :))
