A recently published paper about the evolution of a recently described species of coelacanth from the Middle Triassic called Foreiya maxkuhni.

A picture of the specimen talked about in the paper:

I came here to post this!  :)) I think my favorite coelacanth is still Rebellatrix, the coelacanth that wanted to be a tuna.
In the kingdom of the blind, better take public transit. Well, in the kingdom of the sighted, too, really--almost everyone is a terrible driver.

I will accept your opinion, but I do think that my favorite coelacanth (in terms of appearance) is Foreiya. I will admit, however, that Rebellatrix is a much better name, as it reflects the species not wanting to look like other coelacanths, which isn't something you see very often in nomenclature.

ZoPteryx

How strange!  Looks more like a coelacanth trying to be a parrotfish!  :))
