Starring Dwayne "THE ROCK" Johnson, and featuring very unconvincing CG animals, it's Juman.....
.....I mean RAMPAGE!

Edit: Sorry for sharing this late; but, really, who cares?

Blade-of-the-Moon

It might be a fun monster brawl film, i expect laughs and cool moments zero story and many plot holes to ignore

The effects don't look too bad, and TBH, it excites me more than anything with 'Jurassic' and 'World' in the title.

Looks like it could be fun. Although I wonder if George being white Gorilla could affect the production of a Primal Rage movie, if they ever make it.

Also Lanard makes the toys:

Jurassic Park is frightning in the dark
All the dinosaurs are running wild
Someone let T. Rex out of his pen
I'm afraid those things'll harm me
'Cause they sure don't act like Barney
And they think that I'm their dinner, not their friend
Oh no

Blade-of-the-Moon

Those toys actually pretty detailed.  Not sure what I would do with them at the moment, but they are neat.

I would love a Primal Rage movie..maybe with dinosaurs being hot we have a chance.

Those toys actually look quite good, hopefully these ones actually come to Canada.

I'm planning on seeing this film. You can't not love Dwayne Johnson, even when he's in a bad movie.

I was really excited when I saw the trailer a while ago. I love the look of George but I don't know why they couldn't just up size the other animals I would have preferred that.
And now I guess we will find out what Negan did before the zombie apocalypse.  ;)

I'm curious to see how this will turn out. I've only got to play the game a few times in the past, but I enjoyed it. Interesting that they decided to just keep the monsters more like straight up animals this time around, and not the anthropomorphic style the game had for them. The toys look pretty good too.

Ssshhhoot. I had completely forgotten that existed. It all makes sense now.

Well, some kind of sense.

So... it's a video game adaptation and an '80s franchise. Dead in the water? ;D

I have just one question about this (and dozens of similar movies):  WHY?

Its a pretty damning indictment of the vapidity and the creative wasteland that has become Hollywood when so many "big" pictures are nothing but live-action adaptations of comic books and video games.

Then again, if they didn't make money, they wouldn't make them.  So its a double indictment of the utter lack of imagination, short attention span, and the ignorance of the vast movie-going public in America.  Other countries do produce interesting films about human beings, so I am careful to stop my condemnation "at the water's edge".   ::)

Since I don't play video games I had no idea it was a game. I just like movies about big gorillas.

If movies and TV series today aren't based on games they are based on graphic novels that way they already come with an rabid audience ready to love it or tear it apart.

Well, in my opinion, while the comic book movies I've seen vary in quality from decent to amazing, video game adaptations have been...far less stellar.  In fact, I haven't seen a single good video game movie.  That's not to say I don't enjoy some of them, but mostly for laughs, like the Super Mario Bros. movie.  While I expect that to change with the Tomb Raider reboot coming later this year, I don't expect this to be good.  Rampage is, IMO, like Super Mario.  If you want to make a movie based on such a ridiculous concept, make it animated, not live action.
I'm excited for REBOR's Acro!  Can't ya tell?

stargatedalek

I've some pretty great TV shows based on games (Neptunia alone almost makes up for every bad video game film ever) but the only video game Hollywood film I can say I even enjoyed is the first Tomb Raider movie, and it wasn't that great of a movie.

I tried to watch that on Netflix...didn't even make it five minutes in.

The original Tomb Raider movie or Neptunia? The old Tomb Raider movies were pretty bad, though frankly not much worse than most generic action movies.

And Neptunia is... niche? :P

The Atroxious

Why is it that every time my city gets featured in a movie it gets destroyed by giants and aliens?

That said, I really like the look of the pig-o-dile. I dunno if she's worth seeing the movie for alone, but I might be tempted by the toy at some point.
