Halichoeres

From a part of the fossil record that is poorly sampled--after the end-Devonian mass extinction but before later Mississippian deposits--here's a rich fauna from a freshwater floodplain in what is now Scotland. It includes lots of rhizodonts, tetrapods, freshwater chimaeras, 'acanthodians', ostracods, lungfishes, and archaic actinopterygians.
