This thread is devoted to my encounters with dinosaurs outside of museums. We begin with the impressive Brachiosaurus cast that inhabits the United Airlines terminal (United sucks, BTW) at Chicago O'Hare International Airport. A small Field Museum kiosk is visible next to it.

And here are some outdated denizens of Calgary International Airport. I was last there in 2010; I seriously doubt they've had feathers added to them since.

Unrealistic sculpt aside, I really like those Calgary raptors. I like seeing dinosaurs depicted as nosy/curious animals- the one with the boa is particularly entertaining (genetic memory that for some reason, feathers just feel right? lol).

Here are my photos from a 2010 trip to Disney World's Animal Kingdom. I must admit, I found the dinosaur area a bit disappointing. The main ride was broken that day, the toys in the gift shop were garbage, and most of the decor struck me as tacky. I did like the Sue skeleton and the (outdated) statues though.

Here we are at Downtown Disney, also in Orlando, Florida. This mighty T. rex stands outside the Lego store.

T. Rex Cafe, with its Build-A-Dinosaur facility. I had intended to eat a meal there, but that plan fell through. I imagine the food is really nothing particularly special, but still, can't beat the atmosphere. Also wish I'd gotten a custom dinosaur plush made!

I took these photos at the Calgary Zoo in Alberta back in the fall of 2010.

Diplodocus and Mamenchisaurus (I think).

And here are three of the original dinosaur models, truly vintage by today's standards. First the Ankylosaurus.

Triceratops.

And Tyrannosaurus rex. I remember being very fond of this fellow back when I first visited Calgary in 1985.
