the "magical" (and oversized) Liopleurodon.

Hey I get that reference.

avatar_stargatedalek @stargatedalek I was quoting the old Charlie the Unicorn video actually (which was actually one of the first youtube videos I ever watched back in 2008 or so), but I'm a bit surprised to see called it that in Ark too (which I don't play).

It's a running joke in ARK based on the creatures ability to improve the quality of underwater loot. Presumably the game or fandom referenced the video given it's significantly older.

I enjoy them too, but in a different way: http://www.anorbitalgrouse.com/video/nigel/index.html

Quote from: Patrx on September 24, 2019, 04:26:59 PMIt's just wild to me that in twenty years, no prehistory doc has made a real effort to copy WWD's brilliant format. There's no explanation, no framing device, just "here are some extinct animals living their lives".

No offense, but I'm not sure what you mean. Last I checked, the 1st 4 minutes is the explanation: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YN2_rkpyC3g

To be fair you have to squeeze exposition in their some where.

If so, its a no wonder no dinosaur documentery has lived up to it.

Nah, I was basically ignoring him and just enjoyed the new species not featured in the main WWD series.

Agreed.  Money talks.
It's just that, take Dinosaur Revolution for example - if not for the constant interruption from talking heads and mis-matched editing of the story sequences, it could've been a spiritual successor to WWD (given its estimated budget of US$12M vs WWD's US$80M)

I personally never seen much of Dinosaur revolution

However I own a Copy of Dinotasia which reuses the same skits, and has very little narration. But i would not call it a Documentery by a long shot.

I have the whole series if somebody wants that. Fortunately the whole mappa was in my laptop and not only on my broken portable winchester. Walking with Dinosaurs, Beasts, Monsters, Cavemen, the specials: The Making of WWD, The Ballad of Big Al, Chased by Dinosaurs (Land of Giants, The Giant Claw) and Sea Monsters. English sound, plus English subtitles (when I got it I was still learning English). Before I got the whole thing I didn't even know about the cavemen miniseries.

So if somebody wants it, just send a PM then I will found out how I can send it (or I just ask my significant other for help- maybe it will take a few days if he's busy with studying).

Darren Naish dropped this comment over on the "Love in the Time of Chasmosaurs" FB page..
..and activated my wishful thinking.
QuoteA reminder that Tim Haines will be talking about WWD (and other projects) at TetZooCon 2019.

I hope there'd be a video of that talk available afterwards, and I'm hoping for a teaser for a dino-related project.  Too much wishful thinking? Yes... but, you know... hope.

Happy 20th WWD.

The force is still with you.
