BARNEY---Mattel Films is developing a live-action movie based on its purple dinosaur toy.

I used to watch the original Barney movie on VHS all the time when I was a kid. Between the scenes at the circus and the trailer for Cats in front of the movie it has left traumatized to this day.

CityRaptor

I guess the chances of it being a scientifically accurate Barney movie are rather slim. Although I guess they might update his design a bit.
Jurassic Park is frightning in the dark
All the dinosaurs are running wild
Someone let T. Rex out of his pen
I'm afraid those things'll harm me
'Cause they sure don't act like Barney
And they think that I'm their dinner, not their friend
Oh no

He transforms into a robot with a god-complex and a penchant for talking to himself... oh.. wait... wrong franchise.

Or is it?

Libraraptor

Why don´t they simply spare us scrap like that?

From our perspective it's probably gonna be a horror movie.

Barney is a dinosaur from our imagination
And when he's tall
He causes what we call total devastation

Okay, I guess making it one intentionally is out of question...

To be fair, that´s also what everybody said when the Lego movie was announced.

Which was pretty cool.

The thing is, one of the core aspects of Lego is that there are endless possibilities with it, making the content of a movie based around it somewhat unpredictable. The same can't really be said about a movie based on Barney.

Unless there is a twist to it. Apparently an old children's show has been turned into a horror movie:

avatar_CityRaptor @CityRaptor I did a double take when I saw that on the shelves at Walmart the other night.

I'm kind of not surprised to see this, but at the same time I'm also wondering why this hasn't been tried sooner. At the very least I recall Barney being pretty popular with kids back in the 90's and so (and yes I can admit I used to watch Barney when I was really little, and loved it). Why now? Is it still a thing and I just wasn't aware of it? Or is it just being reintroduced? I'm just curious here.

Actually wasn't bad. Felt like they were kinda after the Five Nights at Freddy's fans.

Wow. I uh, grew up with Barney. It's part of the reasons I came to love dinosaurs.
This is not your planet to rule. The Fallen shall rise again.
