My only concern is that it, like the Deinocherius, may have easily scuffed paint.

In order to alleviate this concern, consider: 1) practicing some modest touch-up skills with unwanted or secondary figures, then you'll be ready to deal with flaws on your premium figures; 2) applying  a protective transparent coating. My friend, Chris, who does my major repaints, applies one to them and it is unnoticeable to my eye.

Thank you! I will try both.

I also must give credit where credit is due; I complain about PNSOs bland colors a lot, but this is, and the Deinocherius, is certainly something new. Glad PNSO is taking this path, it's not super bold but also still unique and more pleasing to see.

ah, PNSO pulling the old Wilson -Tarbosaurus sucker punch again

I really like the coloration on this one. Also looks to be pretty similar proportionally to the newest reconstruction in the most recent Spinosaurus paper. Consider me very pleased.

Ultimately I'm glad the rumor was true after all for folks wanting a new Suchomimus (I mean I did as well, but to a lesser degree). I wonder if PNSO will do Baryonyx then, or a new Spinosaurus from here?

Edit: This reconstruction for anyone curious:

Hoping for a 'spinosaurus family' thing like they did with the Tyrannosaurus, showing different interpretations of Spinosaurus.

Essien is shown as a knucklewalker/quad afaik, and since no other mainstream company has made a bipedal 2020 reconstruction figure of it, I see a good gap open for PNSO to make a larger bipedal spinosaurus, with maybe a slightly more vibrant or duller version of Essien's colors? Could be played off as Essien indeed being a juvenile, and then the bipedal version is an adult male. And then they could produce a swimming/wading Spinosaurus as a female.

Would leave 3 open interpretations for both collectors and children to have a look at the various ideas of this strange creature, while also being able to be displayed together like a family.

I'll be honest with the reveal of the Suchomimus, I see no real reason to acquire the "Sinopliosaurus".

I wonder how much of the sculpt these two figures share with each other. Those buck-teeth on the mandible are awfully suspect.

bmathison1972

Ha! I recently acquired the Safari Suchomimus (which, I'll be sticking with by the way)

Halichoeres

Well this will make some people very happy!

Certainly is a beefy figurine, and I prefer this to the Sinopliosaurus. Currently not interested in either as of now, but they are both great figures. While I like the different colorscheme and patterns, the first stripe on the tail(assuming we start head first) seems a bit odd but it is still acceptable. The sculpt is great as usual. The scales and paint job do seem a bit smooth/unfinished on the face(except the crest), but it is just a minor nitpick.
S @SidB could you show me the exact brand of sealant/protection your friend uses for repaints, repairs, etc

JohannesB

This is a figure I will probably get. It looks beautiful and it looks correctly proportioned. (No issues here, as with "Sinopliosaurus".) It has been quite a long while since I got a dinosaur toy model, so this beauty will be very welcome.

Now that you mention it, actually I think that is an excellent idea. I've done it on one of my repaints, and it works very well. (I use spray paint from a can, not brush.)

I have found out is best to use a matt finish.

Something I just realized after adding this to the DinoToyCollector site is that this is #67, and the "Sinopliosaurus"/Siamosaurus was #66. Both the Deinocheirus and Therizinosaurus were #64 and #65. Also #59 and #60 were the Styracosaurus and Centrosaurus. Some slight trending there.

While prior years did have consecutive releases that paired well (or trios), the numbers weren't particularly connected.

Also man PNSO has really delivered these past three years haven't they?

Here's a list of genera they have put out in both their Prehistoric Animal Models and 1:35 Scientific Art Model since the line's sort of rebirth/renewal in late 2020 (ignoring repaints of sculpts from prior years):

PNSO throwing curveballs as usual, but winning the game in our favor! This is a splendid-looking spinosaurid model, and it's great to have another quality Suchomimus added to the market. It is rather amusing this would be revealed not very long after the "Sino" figure; does this lend credence or detract credence to speculation that "Sino" was originally meant to be a Sucho?

Lynx

I feel like the Sino was just meant to be a Sino, nothing deep about it.

Looks great, still think there should be a little more of a ridge there on the back? Looks a lot like Baryonyx now.

Not sure it's a relief if you already bought the Sinopliosaurus for a Suchomimus..  ;D

Eh, I'll find a different designation for it now. Still a handsome enough figure to own for the artistry IMO

KrazyKaprosuchus

My word PNSO is the gift that keeps on giving! Another instant buy from me. I'll probably still grab the "sinopliosaurus" as well at some point as I quite like it.

Gwangi

I like this one, much more than the "Sinoplosaurus". It makes me happy I didn't get that one. I don't have a Suchomimus in my collection and I'm really digging the paint job here.
