Hi everyone! Today I want to show you a not so little projetct I worked on.

Recently, my Spouse gift me with that pretty mosasaurus, which seams heavily "inspired" by the Jurassic World beast:

I didn't want to just have it placed in a shelf somewhere, so I decided to give it a glimpse of natural habitat with a little base.

So i tried to replicate rock with air drying clay in which I glued metal rods in a "U" shape. And I used pasta to imitate Coral/algae (thank you, Pinterest, for silly and awesome ideas, all together...)

Testting:

Alas, what I nicknamed affectionately Pasta Reef suffered few casualitites :(

Painting "coral"...

Then Rock:

And finishing by gluing sand on the "floor", as we would do for the figures used in minuiature games

I'm quite happy with the results; my mosa seems too, as it gives its best smile for the camera:

For conclusion, I'm satisfied with the pasta technic. I think it can be an easy and pretty cheap technic to add a little bit of marine life. Even if I m fully aware than those probably don't look like anything than have or still exist. But I really like the result.

Goodness - a use I would never have imagined for pasta! I shall never look at farfalle in the same way again! I think they serve the purpose beautifully and complement your model very well.  Thanks for showing us.

Genius idea, well done! The diorama you can eat!

Very clever! A very fun technique to add some interest to an aquatic base!
