New sculpts highlighted in blue below. Special thanks to paleocollector on Instagram for sending me the product codes below (on the little plastic trays they come in, inside the boxes). The codes on the boxes are the first set of codes. The second set of codes are on the little plastic trays. Still missing quite a number of those. Paleocollector gave me the ones for the Amargasaurus & Herrerasaurus, Dimetrodon & Stegosaurus, Ouranosaurus & Majungasaurus, and the Kentrosaurus & Sarcosuchus. No problem. Figured it was about time we got a thread up, especially after I noticed there was this new subforum opened up for 2023 stuff.

I should also be done with messing with the formatting, and whatnot for now, at least until we get more reveals on the way.

Faelrin

So yeah these got revealed today. Well some were revealed a bit back, but the Triceratops and Parasaurolophus are new. Let me tell you I want the snap squads back. The Triceratops in particular is looking cursed with the way too small front limbs. And I'm also bummed the Parasaurolophus just re-uses the Triceratops mold. Once again Mattel can't grasp ornithopod digits. At least they made snap squad versions of both of those. However I am forever bummed things in Dominion like the Pyroraptor, Therizinosaurus, and Giganotosaurus are left with these and no snap squads.

Hmm, not sure if Triceratops or Dracoceratops...
https://jurassicpark.fandom.com/wiki/Dracoceratops
Honestly speaking, it looks more like the latter.
Snap Squads >>> Wild Pop Ups. Even if I only have one.
Jurassic Park is frightning in the dark
All the dinosaurs are running wild
Someone let T. Rex out of his pen
I'm afraid those things'll harm me
'Cause they sure don't act like Barney
And they think that I'm their dinner, not their friend
Oh no

Yep saw that. Will update the op after I get some lunch. Saw in the comments the other HC JPIII raptor releasing will be the male. About time (although there have been two attempts on the female, with the most recent not too bad, but I think the upcoming HC will be better). Looking forward to seeing images of these.

Pliosaurking

I for one like this more than their liopleurodon which itself is a pretty good figure

Gwangi

I also like this one more than the Lio, I might actually get it. Would be the first marine reptile I've purchased from Mattel since the Mosasaurus.

Flaffy

Looks much more like an actual Pliosaur than their Liopleurodon.

Would've been a great figure if it didn't have that intrusive and unsightly slider button.

Blade-of-the-Moon

Faelrin

I don't usually collect the vehicles much, but this one does look like a fun set. I imagine the Destruct-A-Saur cages, etc would look nice in the back there. The armor for the Atrociraptor is an interesting little accessory too.

Hammond Collection Concavenator...? Guess the leaks were true. Very perplexing move by Mattel. :-\

Flaffy

And some mainline figures, with practically zero paint as usual: Dryptosaurus, Diabloceratops, Sinotyrannus

Faelrin

I mean to be fair it was technically in Fallen Kingdom. A statue, but a film canon design nonetheless. I think this is an upgrade over the 2019 Dino Rivals version.

The cost cutting on the other figures is getting pretty bad, despite the mark up in prices now. The Diabloceratops in particular stands out. It would really benefit from even just some stripes or a pattern on the back. Looks so plain otherwise.

The arms being a different color on like all of these is strange too. Like at least some have decent patterns like the Herrerasaurus, but it is pretty glaring since it's nearly all of them like this. Kronosaurus is the exception. Not sure if this is a theme, or just more cost cutting measures.

Lynx

#17
To be honest, I feel this is the fall of Mattel regarding their line. I don't like that they make a dozen repaints of stuff that isn't even in the film most of the time, and still looks terrible. Toe claws don't even have an attempt to be painted. I wish their lines were more unique. Not just the same old stuff with new labels and a single action feature.

I would adore a hybrid line of stuff that wasn't in the films, more vibrant paint schemes, like the Camo X-treme line from some years back. I don't want to see your 100th repaint of a velociraptor, and I don't want to see a random character made super colossal (ex. toro and blue, which were both very.. interesting choices for a SUPER COLLASAL?).

I don't want a random species you just made ugly with minimal paint effort. I understand going on a 'less safe' path with releases might cause negativity, but is that really what is stopping you from releasing a more creative line, besides that?

A small part of me gets really upset whenever I see old videos announcing that Mattel got the license, and showing off the line of the first figure wave in excitement. Now, well, almost all those figures are out of production and/or replaced with a much worse one (ex. the carnotaurus).

I only really buy in-movie species from them, because that seems to be the only thing they get right. But even with that glint of hope, you have stuff like the Giga, with its spine-snapping action feature. All their 'main line' releases have been small to medium species. Why not release a Para Lux? What if a regular para with a glow-in-the-dark feature?

Why not?

An oversized house cat.

suspsy

I'm rather liking the Sinotyrannus. It's big, it's brightly coloured, it looks like it has fun gimmicks, and it bears a decent resemblance to the real animal. Only what a shame that Mattel didn't give it feathers. Ah well, I'm sure both my boys will absolutely love it.

Gwangi

I like the Sinotyrannus, I like the Diabloceratops, and I like the HC Concavenator. The Concavenator is a strange choice from Mattel but look at it! Articulated wrists, proportionate feet, a wicked paintjob. I would like to see the main franchise dinosaurs get figures first but maybe Mattel is testing the waters here with this "lesser" dinosaur. Since I don't have the mainline Concavenator I'll likely get this one.
