Quote from: Blade-of-the-Moon on September 25, 2024, 02:59:45 PMYes I missed out on Anubis, considering getting him via eBay or waiting to see if he'sa general release as well.  I'm really over these reveals and preorders then the super long wait times. Not just with figures and toys but the higher end collectible/statue market. Just had a retailer I've dealt with before finally get a piece in I preordered 3 years ago. I've seen it on sale since for much better prices but I've sort of lost interest in it and there are better products on the market now. As a responsible person I feel like I should keep up my end of the deal but then again I also think nothing should be shown for order and then take this long no matter the reason.

As someone with a bit of insight into how the sausage is made, I try to be sympathetic and understanding, delays happen, sometimes there are serious quality control issues that arise and you need more time, but when things start taking two plus years since announcement to come out, it's a little ridiculous. Companies like Mezco and Super 7 are pretty notorious for this. 4H isn't usually this bad, so I'm assuming something must have happened with the figures I'm waiting on that caused an unusually long delay. Still, some type of status update would be nice.

Hasbro has kind of turned this on its head by announcing really conservative release dates, then making everyone happy when the product shows up 6 months earlier than expected.

I've heard there have been a lot of issues with the factories in China and distributors there which most of my U.S. stores order from. They are trying to get work arounds done or so I've heard.  I'm also getting wary of companies that keep releasing digital art or renders and you don't see the actual product. Like with PCS. They do this with preorders on everything. Their Killer Klowns from Outer Space line is supposed to release Aug-October 2024, I preordered in January based on that and so far we have seen any production images.

Yes, the digital render thing is very annoying. Again, Super 7 is notorious about this, often with a huge amount of detail being lost between the original render and final product.

Companies like Hasbro will show a digital render for some of their action figures, but are careful to make the render look as close to the final product as possible.

But yes I'm always wary of companies that solicit based on digital renders only, as they're often a far cry from what the actual product will look like.

I'm just starting to feel like I need to cut back. If it's coming out in a month or so fine, if it's a couple years nope.

Thinking of pre-ordering the Defenders of Eden Dinosaur line. The colours seem a bit cartoony, but the sculpts are well made. Expected to ship later this year as per BBTS:
https://www.bigbadtoystore.com/Search?Brand=39820

I have also put in my pre-order for the BBTS exclusive Stavros Dragonoid. Don't really know what to expect since this is my first mythic legions figure. Since I have splurged this year's budget on getting a large haul of dinosaur toys, I will get around to ordering the green and blue variants sometime early next year.

Unfortunately missed out on Savage Crucible's first wave, which includes a few dino/lizard men. They seem to be out of stock across most places.

That reminds me, I forgot to share this Star Wars Black Series character from that upcoming Skeleton Crew show (funny as there's also the paleontology youtube channel called this that I watch). Definitely got wolf man vibes. Reminds me of that one character from the Cantina in Star Wars (later A New Hope) with that wolf man look. Same species maybe?

Defenders reminds me of Dinosaucers..almost tempted due to that very reason. I need more pics though, it's hard to tell if/how big the tails are.

Ordered Stavros myself, Four Horsemen figures are pretty nice, though I tend to find a pose and leave them in them, especially the larger ones.

SC looks pretty cool. I like the green one feels sort of Allosaurus like to me?

Yeah, it seems like they definitely draw inspiration from Dinosaucers - Their Instagram should have a lot more detailed pictures. From their most recent post, it does look like they have tails. https://www.instagram.com/defendersofeden/

Yes, the Nin Vilimir from SC does have that dinosaur feel to it.

Also, the blue one(Komo of the Isles) has an alternate head sculpt of a dilophosaurus that is sold separately.

I will definitely check them out then.

The Dilo head sculpt looks nice but where is his neck? lol This is a common problem I have with anthropomorphic animal sculpts in general, head too big, no neck, lack of tails, They just look all out of proportion. I liked Four Horsemen's Anubis and Bastat those were well balanced and pleasing to my eye.  Plus I now have a WWtA Silent Strider lol

Blade-of-the-Moon

So Four Horsemen hit us with some cool stuff today, one HUGE announcment too I'm all for.

First we have a Gnoll sort of a werewolf/werehyena looking creature I like.

Beyithirr the Green Dragon, measures well over 3-feet long from the tip of his nose to his fully extended tail and 22" from the bottom of his feet to the tip of his wings! Preorder opens in January 2025. Announced today at Legions Con 2024, Mythic Legions: Beyithirr the Green Dragon, a fully articulated, 1:12-scale Beast measures well over 3-feet long from the tip of his nose to his fully extended tail and 22" from the bottom of his feet to the tip of his wings! Not sure I'll be able to make it either (especially since I think I've got a cold coming on now), but my god that dragon looks incredible.

Really dig the gnoll as well.

I was sorta drooling lol I love my old firebreathers especially BIG ones. This would go great with David's Ice Dragon I think.  Also knowing FH, they can change up the head/wings/tail and give us different colors/species of dragon.

Yeah I may need to get him too.  I really hope they give us a proper werewolf too.

I was watching their live stream yesterday - Really digging the gnoll, lizardmen and the Lion Figure. But given my location it doesn't really make sense to pre-order. All savings from the pre-order price are negated by the exorbitant shipping costs to Canada. Might as well wait for a local retailers to get stock. Not too sure about the Dragon though - I mean I love how it looks but it's just too big for my tastes. They did hint at other smaller rideable dragons so I'm going to spring for those instead

Blade-of-the-Moon

I know they have a small Asian dragon coming as an accessory for another figure. I'm sure they could do something half this size and more varients/colors/species but regardless I still super stoked for this one :)
