Glad to see it finally funded.

For anyone worried about the stretch goal figures (which I doubt will be funded with only 54 hours remaining, but who knows), David said this in the comments of his recent campaign post on instagram (in response to someone):

QuoteWhile I can't confirm anything in regards to the stretch goal figures, I will say they we don't intend to let the designs go to waste. Life finds a way.

What I find perplexing is that Eons didn't appear to do any advertising for their campaign; they left it all up to Creative Beast. They didn't post about it at all on Facebook or do any videos about it on their YouTube channel. I don't do Twitter, but I suspect they didn't ever mention it there either.

This was discussed earlier on the thread and it turns out that there's a contractual agreement with PBS that they can't directly advertise in a call to action manner. It's odd but there wasn't much Eons could do to advertise.

Are there any high quality articulated modern elephant/rhino/hippo/tapir action figures out there? Us not reaching the stretch goal prehistoric-elephants leaves a hole in me. :p

avatar_Giganotosaurus @Giganotosaurus Maybe not super highly articulated as these ones are, but I know the Jumanji action figures from Lanard Toys a few years back were pretty decent for what they were. As far as I'm aware the line had an:

-African elephant
-bald eagle
-black panther (jaguar)
-brown bear
-cheetah
-hippo
-lion
-rhino
-tiger
-vulture
-warthog
-wolf

I looked these up and was blown away by how high quality and detailed they were for the time until I realized that these were not made for the 1995 movie but for the 2019 movie. Makes more sense now, but still, those are great especially the hippopotamus.

Faelrin

Project ended. $210,756 of $185,000 (USD) goal with 1,215 backers.

A shame the stretch goals didn't get funded in time but I think we all saw that coming.

I pledged for the 1/35 scale mammoth. Expect a review of it next year. :)

Who else here pledged?

I pledged for the trilobite, but now I wish I hadn't, as it's overpriced and got us no closer to any interesting proboscidians.

Whereas I still find them overpriced, I did end up going in for the Mammoth and calf. I figured it was better to get them overpriced in the backer kit than wait until they were even more overpriced elsewhere  :P  Plus, the whole pay in installments thing softened the blow enough for me to stomach it.

It feels like they're in striking distance of that Gomp. Wonder if they've considered just doing pre-orders to see how much else they can get funded?

Alternatively, I wonder if they'd consider a separate campaign for the non-mammoth figures or if they're just going to take the loss on those other figures? Feels like they could campaign for another 100k to produce the three stretch goals, the demand certainly seems to be there.

From their latest update: https://www.backerkit.com/c/projects/complexly-and-creative-beasts-studios/prehistoric-elephants/updates/11687

"We also discussed Gomphotherium, Platybelodon, and Moeritherium and how we can find a way to make those figures. Plans are in motion. Make sure you keep up to date with David, Eons, and Complexly on our various socials as we figure things out!"

Hopefully they will put together another campaign for these remaining figures. I'm sure it will be successful with at least one or more models being funded based on the feedback from those interested in them.

They mentioned in an older update they thought the large mammoth would be funded quickly and the others would unlock early on. However, this was not the case so they offered the 1/35th scale mammoth for a lower price to entice more budget minded backers. Now that Eons has gone through their first campaign, they'll have a better idea of what to aim for.

Giganotosaurus

Nice! They should save those three for a new campaign next fall. Or, maybe fund the Gomphotherium now through further pre-orders, and have the other 2 be part of a second campaign next fall.

Glad this funded at least. I forgot to check the time and failed to grab one more adult 1/18th mammoth. Oh well, at least I got one of each of the non-snowy mammoths. Will PBS or Eons' online stores be selling these after they're produced? I'll be sure to pick up one more adult 18th mammoth off the site when they become available.

Based on David's campaigns at least, there usually is a post-campaign backerkit preorder store where people can either add onto their existing orders, or make new ones for those who haven't supported the initial campaign.

Note that the latter will display slightly higher prices than what was displayed on the campaign, but still lower than their final retail price.

Painted prototype for the BotC Andrewsarchus (wip? or finished, not sure):

QuoteJust one of several new painted prototypes planned for the upcoming LegionsCon event, here's your first look at the painted Beasts of the Cenozoic 1/18th scale Andrewsarchus!

I'm planning to go to Legions Con again this year (fingers crossed anyways), so I'm looking forward to seeing this one in person. Got to see the unpainted one last year which was cool. While the dinosaurs are still the main focus, I'm glad we are getting some prehistoric mammals too now (and hopefully Cenozoic birds like a terror bird at the very least).

It sounds like the restrictions that come with being a PBS production really hamstrung them. I'm glad it got funded, even though I'm not personally interested in another mammoth. I'm encouraged that they seem determined to get the Moeritherium and other oddballs produced one way or another.

It seems Eons did market the campaign on Youtube for the launch date, with their September 3rd video titled : "What Was The First Beverage?" It is not in the video thumbnail so you'd only know about it if you watched the video. It is mentioned at the beginning and then at the time mark 11.50.  Oddly, their next video on September 10th titled: "How The Elephant Got Its Trunk" shows the models but doesn't mention the campaign at all. So it is unclear exactly how the previously posted PBS advertising restrictions work.
