I originally posted the following (which was originally several posts, starting w/this one: https://dinotoyblog.com/forum/index.php?topic=10177.msg318230#msg318230 ) at deviantART ( https://www.deviantart.com/jd-man/journal/SD-My-favorite-artworks-of-Velociraptor-956554734 ).

QuoteThis journal entry is a sequel to "SD: My favorite artworks of Deinonychus" ( https://www.deviantart.com/jd-man/journal/SD-My-favorite-artworks-of-Deinonychus-948529444 ) in honor of Velociraptor Awareness Day ( https://www.cbcbooks.org/2022/04/18/national-velociraptor-awareness-day/ ). For those who don't know, my hopes for the "Prehistoric Planet" Velociraptor were high after the 1st teaser ( https://dinotoyblog.com/forum/index.php?topic=7869.msg316851#msg316851 ), & especially after the 1st trailer ( http://dinotoyblog.com/forum/index.php?topic=7869.msg317542#msg317542 ). After Ep3, I could confidently say that Una in particular (as nicknamed by Alteori) is the best, most beautiful Velociraptor I've ever seen (& thus, my favorite depiction of Velociraptor): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c7ARp1lSaVU

To add to Alteori's video, here's a quote from Dino Dad's PhP review ( https://dinodadreviews.com/2022/05/30/prehistoric-planet/ ): "One easily forgets that we are not viewing living animals here; it often feels as though all of it was all simply shot on location as a traditional wildlife documentary. Velociraptor, for example, moves exactly like a large predatory ground bird, with all the little tics and quirks of movement that characterize the living animals, which does as much to convince viewers of its reality as the high resolution CGI models do."

Honorable mention #1) Tie btwn Willoughby's "The Velociraptor Hunting Dance" ( https://www.deviantart.com/ewilloughby/art/The-Velociraptor-Hunting-Dance-376945642 ), Chuang's "A sketch of Velociraptor" (See Author's Preface + Illustration 11: https://www.edelweiss.plus/#sku=1612545157 ), Willoughby's "Flaming Cliffs - Velociraptor" ( https://www.palaeocast.com/episode-66-saving-mongolias-dinosaurs/ ), & Chuang's "Hurui the Velociraptor" ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rWJ7Ryw1R-w ): The 1st 2 are my favorites in terms of ecology/behavior (especially Chuang's, which reminds me of GSPaul's climbing/perching sinornithosaurs, but better: http://gspauldino.com/PTDromaeo.pdf ); The 2nd 2  are my favorites in terms of colors/patterns (especially Chuang's, which reminds me of living desert birds, but better: http://www.in-the-desert.com/birds.html ).

Honorable mention #2) Csotonyi's "At night[...]" ( http://web.archive.org/web/20220415081918/https://i.ibb.co/JqHg74y/Screen-Shot-2022-04-12-at-3-10-33-AM.png ) for the same reasons as #1 + the nighttime aesthetic ( https://www.pinterest.com/sunkissedmani/nighttime-aesthetic/ ), but not as much b/c its wings look oddly small compared to #1's.

Honorable mention #3) Tie btwn Rey's "Velociraptor attacks Avimimus" ( https://luisvrey.wordpress.com/2016/04/12/dinosaur-skin-and-survival-the-new-coming-project/velo-avi-copy/ ) & Witton's "Velociraptor: picking on the little guy" ( http://markwitton-com.blogspot.com/2015/06/on-jurassic-world-and-real-raptors.html ): They're very similar scenes, but in very different styles, which I love for reasons discussed elsewhere (Rey: https://www.amazon.com/review/R30VGMGZ7WL3V4/ref=cm_cr_srp_d_rdp_perm?ie=UTF8 ) (Witton: https://www.deviantart.com/jd-man/journal/SD-Good-Semi-good-and-Bad-Dino-Sources-4-800236863 ).

Honorable mention #4) Tie btwn NHM's "Dino Jaws" Velociraptor ( https://www.agefotostock.com/age/en/details-photo/an-animatronic-model-of-the-dinosaur-velociraptor-created-by-kokoro-for-the-natural-history-museum-s-dino-jaws-exhibition-running-from-30th-june-2006-to-15th/MEV-10715050 ) & AMNH's "Fighting Dinos" Velociraptor ( https://digitalcollections.amnh.org/archive/Velociraptor--from-Fighting-Dinosaurs-exhibit-2URM1T9XJV4K.html ): For 1, they feature in some of my favorite dino exhibitions (NHM: https://www.nhm.ac.uk/business-services/touring-exhibitions/dino-jaws.html ) (AMNH: https://www.amnh.org/exhibitions/fighting-dinos ); For another, they feature in some of my favorite dino books (NHM: https://www.amazon.com/review/R2URWS93D4PO4C/ref=cm_cr_srp_d_rdp_perm?ie=UTF8 ) (AMNH: https://www.amazon.com/review/R1G5HZTPACE9QG/ref=cm_cr_srp_d_rdp_perm?ie=UTF8 ).
