Prehistory Resurrection

Official Trailer. Coming October 25th on Netflix.

Mellow Stego

Keep calm and love dinosaurs

Faelrin

So glad for the Paleozoic stuff. Haven't had any decent doc for that stuff since BBC's Walking with Monsters, at least as far as I'm aware.

Looks like it's going to have a very nice variety of animals. I'm excited for this.

This looks fantastic, especially considering how there's very little coverage of the Permian and Middle Triassic periods in most documentaries. I'm just hoping the Paleozoic segments have enough breathing room, since WWM proved 3 episodes just isn't enough for them to really shine.

Some of the models still look a bit lumpy to me but the lighting and details, particularly in closeups, look pretty promising.

Also, nice to see good ol' Spielberg hasn't washed his hands of dinosaurs just yet.

Einherjar

That looks like the giga from Dominion before they turned it into Godzilla.

My only nitpick is the Tyrannosaurus posture it's a little to upright on the last shot.

It takes place in the Paleozoic too.
I think I know someone who would be absolutely excited for the Paleozoic parts  ;)

I had to check again but I noticed this too. If you see, the Tyrannosaurus was just walking in a horizontal posture, then began to raise its body as it began to pause. It's a quick clip.

I am really liking what I see so far. Originally I had doubts due to the first trailer/sneak peek we got, but this is definitely better.

I feel like this documentary will be more in-line with the story-style of WWD than Prehistoric Planet was. If they're touching every area, seems like 1 episode will be dedicated to each story or at least timezone in prehistoric fauna. But we'll see.

Just by comparing trailers, John Favreau really nailed it with Prehistoric Planet's visuals. Regardless, CGI isn't everything.

The rex looks a bit pudgy, way pudgier than REBOR's Kiss and a couple of the models have an uncanny valley thing going on. Looks great overall, though.

It seems we are in the "who makes the beefier t-rex" race. Not a bad thing, it's cool seeing how relatively new trends in paleoart reach the mainstream media. It looks good, no at the level of PP (in what we get from the Mesozoic in the trailer), but that's a too high a bar to surpass.

My thoughts exactly. I'm especially looking forward to what may be a Deinonychus family at the end of the new trailer. That said, I'm surprised no one else here has mentioned the weirdly sprawling Anchiornis ( https://darrennaish.files.wordpress.com/2013/02/dyke-et-al-2013-aerodynamic-performance-of-microraptor-in-wind-tunnel-tests.pdf ) or the weirdly dimorphic Smilodon ( https://www.academia.edu/14320232/SEXUAL_DIMORPHISM_SOCIAL_BEHAVIOR_AND_INTRASEXUAL_COMPETITION_IN_LARGE_PLEISTOCENE_CARNIVORANS ).
