Hi, I've posted a little here but haven't gotten around to showing off my collection yet.

I'm mostly a "species completionist"; that is, I don't usually have multiples of a particular taxon and collect new stuff only when it's an animal I don't have or it's to replace a figure that is less accurate. I'm currently up to 170 genera. With that in mind, I'll be posting one new image each day until it's all uploaded. These will be organized by time and place.

This thread will also be updated to include new species as they arrive.

That is an interesting way of collecting and a good way to keep your collection in check too. I contemplated something similar but realized I couldn't make it having to choose between such models as say the Carnegie and Invicta Diplodocus. I look forward to watching this thread progress.

Very interesting way of collecting. I reckon my Unique Species list should come in handy for you. If you happen to own species not on the list, don't hesitate to share them.

What do you do when there's a newer, cooler model of a species you already own made available but you still like the older model and both are pretty accurate? Not buy the new figure, or dump the older figure regardless?

Interesting approach! For me this would be the wrong way, I am sure. I can´t decide, for example, if I prefer ROM Diplodocus to Invicta Diplodocus. Or Marx Apatosaurus to Linde.

In Roselaar's scenario, I generally go with the one I already own. I have a fairly limited budget. It helps that most of my collection comes from the Safari-based lines. I prefer accuracy over detail, so Papo is mostly out, and Favorite has a limited selection. Bullyland is not widely available and the same is mostly true of Collecta, though my local museum does have a few and I've gotten several more for birthdays and Christmas over the last few years.

Nice collection, Splonkadumpocus (and interesting name, too - any particular origins?  ).
I hadn't really realised the advantages of being a 'species completionist', but I tend to buy figures that I'm really drawn to, i.e sculpt, accuracy, colouration, species etc, so that often means having several of one species!  Also, having more individuals of a species can make for more interesting dioramas.

And I agree with Gwangi - it will be interesting to see your thread grow.

I realize the figure I labeled as Dacentrurus is usually considered to be Scelidosaurus; however, with only two rows of spikes on its back plus a hip spike, it's clearly some kind of stegosaur. The only stegosaur I've ever seen depicted with only spikes and no plates is Dacentrurus (although this is not accurate) so that's what I'm going with.
