Quote from: crazy8wizard on August 07, 2025, 05:02:14 PMThe fact that the re-imagined line has had 2 different Dominion sets which makes me ask: reimagined from what?
I would say it's these two being reimagined as if they had released in the kenner days

So obviously they couldnt change the look but the giga is a large rubber figure with a maquette-style design like that original T. rex figure, and they both have inaccurate colours like that first Kenner series did

I hope we will see these figures in better pics, but I still remember the dimetrodon they showed 2 years ago and tbh its not my fave mattel figure, I prefferd the main line one, despite I dont have it but some friends has it. If they will go to the novel species, my choices and to resurrect the medium line: Maiasaura, Hadrosaurus, Styracosaurus, Dilophosaurus, Euoplocephalus and Cearadactylus
Between the time when the oceans drank Atlantis and the rise of the sons of Aryas, there was an age undreamed of. And unto this, Conan, destined to wear the jeweled crown of Aquilonia upon a troubled brow. It is I, his chronicler, who alone can tell thee of his saga. Let me tell you of the days of high adventure!

Cearadactylus would be great!
In the kingdom of the blind, better take public transit. Well, in the kingdom of the sighted, too, really--almost everyone is a terrible driver.

I think they took they took their main shot with all the Dominion releases and Spino/Stego. These are all just filler. Next month starts 4th quarter so hopefully we get something good then.

Yeah, after how much I've spent on this first Rebirth wave (and still not done) I'm alright with taking a break.

I managed to get the Purrusaurus today! Other than some minis that's most of my list for now!

That's one of the only toys I want from that wave.

It's almost ridiculously big. But it's great!

Congrats! I'm a lot more selective with mainline Mattel these days, particularly for the larger figures, but I reckon I'll be getting this croc too at some point. First figure of Purussaurus I believe?

Depending on the estimate used, this figure can range from 1:26-1:42. I'm happy to display mines as a 1:35 individual, right in the middle sweetspot.

The Purussaurus is the best croc Mattel has made so far, in its proportions.  The torso and tail are still a bit short but it does not look nearly as cartoonish as the Sucho and Grypo.  As for scale, it depends on the species.  P. neivensis was around 22 to 24 feet long, so this figure is about 1/18 to 1/20 scale, with an oversized head.  For P. mirandi it's about 1/22 to 1/26 scale, with a slightly large head and for the big boy, P. brasilensis it's about  1/29 to 1/30 with a smallish head.  The proportions of the figure make an exact scaling impossible as both the torso and tail should be relatively longer, but the above is a reasonable guide.

The weirdest thing about the figure is the jaw articulation....there isn't any.  Instead of the jaw opening, the top of the head opens upwards....if you examine the sculpt you can see why they did it this way but it makes for a bit of a bizarre open mouth look.  The biting/snapping action feature is amusing.  I would have preferred a more realistic colour scheme, but i guess Mattel wants to make these figures more visually interesting for the kiddies.

Mattel never fail doing crocs and relatives. So this will come to home! Also excited to see chilantai

It measures 38.5cm long, so depending on max length of 10.5m-12.5m, it would be 1:27 - 1:32. Of course, the tail is short.

Using head length of 6.5cm and the longest known skull of 1.453m, the scale is closer to 1:22.

In other words, it's whatever you need it to be!

Yes, the articulation is a little weird because of the mechanics. But it's going to sit on a shelf anyway. What I find strange is that the front legs are not articulated. They do a little kick when the bite motion happens, it's almost adorable.

I think they had a lot of good mainline/general/unassociated with the film figures this year. MATTEL seems to always be improving.

I agree. I always say I'm going to focus on the Hammond Collection but then Mattel goes and releases a Inostrancevia, Utahraptor, and Maiasaura.  ::)

Agreed.  Before this year i had only bought 3 of the Mattel sauropods, the epic roarin' Rex and the Pentaceratops.  Nothing else and no Hammonds.  This year i have purchased several of the newer figures....more than all the previous years combined.  All because the quality of the figures has improved.

Keep it up Mattel.

I'd say I've bought more this year than last as well.  I finally tracked down the SDCC Buck Rex set. ..it cost me though.
