Yeah pnso specifically seems to take a lot of pride in Chinese taxa. Prob why we got a Lufengosaurus before Plateosaurus.

I would definitely love to see those taxa mentioned but imo any Triassic fauna would be welcome. There are plenty more Triassic species known from immaculate remains that dont get any attention. Metoposaurus, Cynognathus, Askeptosaurus, Hyperodapedon and so on. Triassic dinos are cool, but theres so many more cool things that existed then too.

I just feel like in a lot of media the Triassic is just boiled down to "this is when dinosaurs first showed up" when there is so much more going on.

Quote from: Sim on August 20, 2025, 08:30:51 PMThe lack of Plateosaurus is really weird.  Not from PNSO, but companies in general.  For example, I don't believe Safari can rely on how well the Carnegie Plateosaurus sold to determine whether it's worth making a new figure of one since the Carnegie figure is a rather poor representation of the animal.  CollectA has a relatively nice Plateosaurus but it too has key errors that make it unsatisfying.  In any case though, PNSO has been focusing on marine reptiles featured in that museum, which is why we won't see Plateosaurus or another overdue animal like a plesiosauroid or dromaeosaurid.  I'd love these latter animals from PNSO, and Cymbospondylus too, but I'm not thinking we might see them until PNSO stops with the species from that museum.  Personally, I'm just hoping for a Nothosaurus from PNSO before they stop making figures of the marine animals from that museum, although I'd be interested in a pistosaur too.  What I'm drreading is PNSO making only one extant animal and nothing prehistoric in a month.  I would prefer if they made one of each in a month.
I imagine a safari Plateosaurus will come eventually. They have been remaking all the carnegies

Quote from: Monkeysaurus on August 20, 2025, 08:19:57 PMI'd love for PNSO to try their hand at prehistoric amphibians as well as Permian stem-mammals. I'm totally on board with them making more Triassic weirdos. All I ask is that they stay in 1/35 scale. There new one looks great but I don't think it's 1/35.

I love 1/35 scale but it is way to limiting for most Triassic animals.

I go to independent artists for my 1/35 Triassic animals. My Placerias, Postosuchus & Coelophysis are remarkable!

Quote from: Joliezac on August 20, 2025, 08:23:38 PMI wish one of the brands would make some 1:35 or 1:25 scale raptor figures. I love Rebor's deinonychus trio.
I've wanted to get my hands on those for a while now. Had to settle for these guys on Etsy. Really nervous to paint them

avatar_Monkeysaurus @Monkeysaurus, I've been eyeing some other figures that Open Range Miniatures sells for a bit now. Did you have a good experience buying from them? The print quality looks very good, at least.

Yes! They even double checked if they were the appropriate sizes before printing. Came within the week I ordered (NH, USA). Painting something so small will definitely be a challenge though

Thanks, I appreciate the info. As for painting them, I've done a few miniatures and I recommend getting some high-quality brushes that come to a fine point. Other than that, it's just patience!

I was scrolling through Open Range's pages looking at extant animals. Very nice, but I would only order something that came painted.

Absolutely, so much weird stuff going on in the Triassic as niches were recreated in the wake of the P-T extinction. And so much of it (drepanosaurs anyone?) that would be hard to appreciate at 1:35.

My only concern with Open Range is the measurements they use to print from, which isn't based on any scaling like 28mm or 1/35, but is based on her own measurements. One model would be fine, but if you have multiple models (like your raptors) that need to be roughly the same size but the actual lengths of the models are different. For example, one raptor on the branch is so many inches but the running model is a different length and the one with it's head up is going to be another length entirely. I've looked at the very models you have and they all have different lengths per the owner's method of measuring. How did you get them all about the same size?

I'm curious too. I've been searching but have yet to find any clues as to the success or otherwise of the crowdfunding enterprise in China.

The crowdfunder was a success at 240% above their initial target. So it's not a matter of if, but when, I suppose.
