I just delivered the Kosmo and the Majunga to be made into 1/40th scale masters.  The rex took a while to be made into resins, but I'll inform you every step of the way.  The Kosmo will be 4 1/2" long and the Majunga will be 6 1/2" .

Majunga will need a base, so I guess I'll have to create one.  I hear there is this stuff called "clay" that allows you to "make" things.  I think I'll give that a try.

Has anyone painted the T.rex yet?  If so could you post it here?

@David Krentz,
Does the frosted ultra detail material from Shapeways arrive coated in wax that has to be cleaned off life the black detail material does?
Don't you hate it when you legitimately compliment someone's mustache and she gets angry with you?

Sounds great, when are you going to start taking pre-orders Mr. Krentz?

Hello All.  Thanks for posting your paint jobs and buildups on this thread!  Its nice to have everything in the same place :)

I did a little Shapeways experiment recently.  I've been trying to get them to print a hollow Triceratops- to save on huge costs- in SILVER a couple of times.  Problem is that the hole I'd need to create so they could extract the left over wax in the hollow part would need to be so big it would make the miniature really ugly.  I thought I'd bump down the scale of the Triceratops from 1/144th to 1/200 and keep it SOLID SILVER.  That did the trick.
I received it in the mail today an was amazed at the details!  I thought I'd make it available to all here..

Its not cheap, about $70.  Metal in general is expensive these days.  Don't do the polished version, apparently its inconsistent, and the one in the picture is not polished but quite shiny.

That looks great David! Maybe make a few more pieces available in silver, so we can create our own Krentz Monopoly board game.  ;)

This is obviously what brought about the end of the horrid werewolf-tyrannosaur hybrids.

You know, if I pitched that Idea to a studio they'd actually make it.  Of course there would need to be vampires on there somewhere, or what's the point.

Hello Mr. Krentz,
Do you still plan on bringing out a 1/40 Bistahieversor? I'm sorry if I missed it, if you mentioned it's "second" demise.
Thanks so much. (LOVE the 1/40 Tyrannosaurus. I've got to get a lot more of them!!)
Bill P.
Or how about the 1/40 Allosaurus I thought I saw in an earlier dino toy forum post?

krentz

Hey everyone, I thought I'd send an update on two more of the Saurozoic 1/40th dinos.  The digital files are at Moddler right now and are being cut up and keyed for 3D printing.  I should get the masters soon and send them off to Mike Evans for resin castings.  I think these will be (roughly) in $50 range.  I'll let you all know when I'm taking preorders.

A note on the pics.  I've asked John and Moddler to NOT separate the top jaw from the neck on the Majunga.  Also, the keys depicted here are temporary.

 :)  These are good news!
Of course it would be wonderful to have the models in 1:20, Blade 8) ....... and pricey too :P.

David, will there be a base for the Majungasaurus?

tyrantqueen

They're both gorgeous. Count me in :D

The Kosmoceratops looks like it would be a good parent for the CollectA Kosmo XD
