Top 4 most awesome dino doc themes.

I originally posted the following at deviantART ( http://jd-man.deviantart.com/journal/SD-Top-4-most-awesome-dino-doc-themes-409346510 ). Now, I'd like to know what guys think are the most awesome dino doc themes & why.

This journal entry was inspired by the Nostalgia Critic's "Top 11 Most Awesome Movie Themes" ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LlzhxVj7xck ). It's nothing formal, just a list of what I (as a non-expert dino fan) think are the most awesome dino doc themes & why. Even still, I hope that at least some you will get something out of it. As for why "Top 4", to quote Santa Claus ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y_KMYPsPNXQ ), "I've checked it more than once, but less than ten times, because around four I get bored."

4) "Paleoworld" ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DXjbcImbO-k ): This theme is great adventure music. In fact, this theme reminds me of "The Lord of the Rings" (#11 on the NC's list) in that it makes me want to stand up & yell "F*** YEAH! That was just the begining of the action! Ehh!!!!" & "F*** YEAH! I'm gonna vacation there! Mmmhhh!!!" (in combination w/the footage of dino digs & museums, respectively).

3) "Evolve" ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HOcsJwm4vCc ): As a wrestling fan, this theme reminds me of Batista's theme ("I Walk Alone": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3sSTRiv_OA8 ). Don't get me wrong as I never really liked Batista's wrestling. However, I always really liked his theme b/c it made me think of "RAW ANIMALISTIC POWER" ( https://www.cagematch.net/?id=111&nr=497&page=98 ) more than any other. That's basically what "Evolve" is about (albeit in a different context), hence why a Batista-esque theme is so fitting.

2) "Bonehead Detectives of the PaleoWorld" ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l-GqRtc3tRE ): As a rock fan, this theme reminds me of "You Shook Me All Night Long" ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zWCINQn6k0s ) for obvious reasons. Specifically, these are 2 awesome rock songs with similar-sounding choruses, & everyone loves screaming the chorus of an awesome rock song.

1) "Dinosaur Revolution" ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kBKOxMi47-Q ): Even though DR got mixed reviews, I think everyone can agree on 2 things: 1) Its dinos are the most anatomically-accurate of any dino doc at that point; 2) Its theme is the most awesome of any dino doc at that point. In fact, DR's theme reminds me of "Conan" (#2 on the NC's list) in that "it's amazing, it's grand, it's epic, it's...just massive". DR's theme is so awesome that I had to provide a link to the extended version (as opposed to a DR episode, which uses a much shorter version).

Honorable Mention) "Walking with Dinosaurs" ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qj9qCA91NqA ): It was kind of a toss-up between this theme & "Paleoworld". I know this theme gets a big cheer whenever the doc opens, but it's the songs in the actual doc that make me wanna stand up & roar (E.g. The "Diplodocus Herd" scene from the "Ballad of Big Al" episode: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r1yv7Pi78Og ), hence why it didn't make the "Top 4".

I cannot believe there is really a topic for favorite dinosaur documentary themes! Just goes to show you, if something has to do with dinosaurs someone will bring it up for discussion on the DTF.

That said, here is one of my favorite themes/openings.  It is from the PBS documentary "The Dinosaurs" from 1993...I think, some time in the early '90's. Skip to 1:54 to hear it.

I know what you mean. Had I made a list of the most awesome doc themes, I wouldn't have been able to narrow it down to 4. There's just too many (Off the top of my head: DK Eyewitness, National Geographic, & Wild Discovery).

To be fair, it's like the NC said, "The music to a movie adds so friggin' much. I mean, it's practically 1/3 of the film." The same goes for docs.

PaleoWorld had the best theme hands-down IMO. It makes me shed tears of joy whenever I hear it. Especially when you remember hearing it with Ben Gazzara's epic voice...*geekgasm*!!

Never mind it being a documentary, it was my favorite TV show. I loved the way they made the dinosaurs have individual personalities.

I completely agree!  It is one of my favorites!  I always wanted figures of the evil Tyrannosaur and the deformed Allosaurus!

I've only seen a few episodes of PaleoWorld before, but that opening theme is unforgettable.
I had almost forgotten about Eyewitness, but once mentioned I could recall it instantly.

WWD had the best overall soundtrack, but the opening credits theme is one of the weaker tracks, imo (I don't think it was even on the soundtrack).
The ending theme was beautiful, though; it totally deserves mention.

"Walking With Dinosaurs: The Live Experience" wasn't a typical documentary, but it had really good music too:

The soundtrack for Walking with Dinosaurs is my favorite for a dinosaur documentary, but out of any documentary about extinct life, Prehistoric America/Wild New World definitely wins as far as I am concerned :
