Thank you for the first real feathered dinosaur in JP.  ;D I had this no longer expected after this year. Hope Jimmy will find his guitar but how he play the chords with so short arms?  ::) Teethpowerplay?

Arul

That is so cool  :o i recognize your entry instantly because i see your drawing/concept of your diorama in art thread before hehehe :D Now this is the true diorama, all pure handmade lol :D again, very great job i love it.

Halichoeres

I'm even more glad that I voted for this one now that I see the work that went into it.

Tyto_Theropod

Congrats on the Honourable Mention - all that hard work deserved even more! You had my vote from the start, because as someone who was seriously miffed about how the dinosaurs in Jurassic World looked, I loved the concept, and I loved its execution. There's so much movement in the photograph, and indeed in the figure itself. There's a real sense of the power packed into the Tyrannosaur's muscles, and how smoothly the whole animal is posed and moving. You are seriously a very talented sculptor and I have no idea why you haven't been hired by a company yet!

Here's how I made my entry for the 2015 contest. I wanted to make a "corrected" version of Rexy and reimagine the famous car scene with a feathered dinosaur.

Finished Rexy with yet unpainted 1993 Ford Explorer I found on eBay.

Building the site:

Is it just me, or did you but some Strands of hair on the Rexs back?

Dinomike

Yes, Takama, I did. I wanted the T.rex to look more alive so I put some strands of hair to create more layers on the creature. These photographed very well.

Thanks for everyone who voted for my entry! I'm very happy for the other winners! I'm honored to have made it this high in the contest - what a fun event it is!
Here are some pics of the progress.
This year I combined scratch-made models as well as factory-made models by Favorite, Safari and CollectA. Those models I repainted. The photo shoot location is a park some 20 kilometres from where I live. The fog effect is made by using dry ice.

The Deinosuchus is almost ready. Baby Para in progress.

Finished Deinosuchus and the repainted paras.

The shooting location. Blocks of dry ice on the tray as well as in the stream.

And the final entry. The one hadrosaur behind the paras is the Safari Carnegie Corythosaurus.

Your Deinosuchus is fantastic, makes me wish it was a full figure available to purchase! The fog effect really is perfect. Congratulations!

Thank you! In this scale, a whole Deinosuchus would be ginormous! It would be a lot of fun though.
