I might just sit back and watch people play this fabulous game with envy.
Too sad I won't afford a new laptop in a year or two.
Maybe I am on Saurian 2 by then. ::)

Early Access of the game releases very soon- July 31st!! If you backed the Kickstarter, you will be able to play it then :)) I'm pretty sure you will only be able to play as Dakotaraptor in this early version of the game, but I'm still pretty hyped. Here's the most recent gameplay footage:

ZoPteryx

Looking really good, can't wait for it to be released in full!  ;D

CityRaptor

Jurassic Park is frightning in the dark
All the dinosaurs are running wild
Someone let T. Rex out of his pen
I'm afraid those things'll harm me
'Cause they sure don't act like Barney
And they think that I'm their dinner, not their friend
Oh no

Neosodon

I hesitate to call that a review. But that's what you should expect from the uneducated public.  And now saurian's scent system is forever ruined. "I was pressing the fart button." ::)

"3,000 km to the south, the massive comet crashes into Earth. The light from the impact fades in silence. Then the shock waves arrive. Next comes the blast front. Finally a rain of molten rock starts to fall out of the darkening sky - this is the end of the age of the dinosaurs. The Comet struck the Gulf of Mexico with the force of 10 billion Hiroshima bombs. And with the catastrophic climate changes that followed 65% of all life died out. It took millions of years for the earth to recover but when it did the giant dinosaurs were gone - never to return." - WWD

Stuckasaurus (Dino Dad Reviews)

Man, I was all set to buy this game, and then a major financial setback has me living hand-to-mouth for the next few weeks. Oh well. I'm steadily climbing my way out of the hole; I'll be able to afford it soon enough.

PaleoMatt

I honestly can't believe he called the Dakotaraptor made up.

I couldn't watch that video for more than 1:30 minutes, after what they said about feathers I knew it was going to be just painfull to watch the rest.

stargatedalek

Be careful not to dislike or comment on the video. People like that don't care about being educated and any activity will only support the video because Youtubes algorithm loves "controversy".

I'm not going to waste my time giving those fools a view. For all I know they're probably the obnoxious sort too.

In any case, I've been kind of just spending my time with other things while I wait for this game to be patched up. I'm also just a tad bit short of being under the minimum specs (which is frustrating to say the least after waiting since last year for them to be revealed), so it's barely even playable for me on my HP Pavilion dv6. At least I still have the other rewards to look forward too, whenever they come (November now according to Devlog 24?).

So I've kind of shelved this game already, because of the issues regarding this game that bother me. Think I need to just get them out already, and there's no way I'm posting this on the steam forums with all the trolls there. So for starter's I'm under the minimum requirements, so optimization issues aside, even if that gets patched, it still might be barely playable. Of course had there been an estimate at the kickstarter campaign maybe I wouldn't have pledged so much for a game I can't really play now. I had to wait over a year to find that crucial information out. Well lesson learned, don't pledge for another game without specs mentioned (or really any game at all again if I'm going to be extreme). At least I still have the physical rewards and other things to look forward too right?

That brings me to my next thing. The lack of transparency on the physical rewards has been really annoying to put it lightly. You have to scavenge for comments on their FB or their Dev Logs only to still see that the field guide is still being worked on/not finished yet. No other information on anything else, beyond the claws being done a while ago, and they're waiting to ship those with the physical field guide. Nothing giving an approximate percentage of how finished for anything else. There's nothing like that at all. At least there's finally an estimate for shipping, and here's hoping that stays true. On top of that, the Dev Logs always contain minimal information, and they only do those biweekly. Most show concept art or models being worked on, and occasionally something else. Never anything that's really in depth though, except on a few occasions. It's been over a month now, and there's been minimal information about what's going into the next patch, or why it's taking a while. I get things can take a while to work out, but a little more info would go a long way.

It's a shame this became so disappointing to me now. I was so hyped for when the kickstarter campaign finally started. But another lesson learned. Don't let the hype get to me, or rather more correctly, let it influence my decisions on spending money. Here's to hoping the physical rewards do get shipped before the end of the year, otherwise I'm hoping it's not too late to get a refund.

No offense but the games requirements really aren't that high, even now with minimal optimization. Most PC players have a PC that meets those requirements, they aren't absurd or out of the norm at all. Even triple-A games with millions of dollars to spare on optimization can't get their games to run with specs much lower.

This is a risk anyone takes with any kickstarter, they don't offer refunds, even for literal frauds, so it's really not fair to expect a refund because your PC wasn't meeting requirements. Even with Steam refunds you have a limited period for getting a refund because of such things.

I'm short on 1gig of vram, and 2 gigs of ram. I'm playing on an HP Pavillion dv6 that was given to me from a friend of my dad's at work when my other laptop ran into issues (which was far below the specs of this game anyway). I doubt I'll have the income to get anything better that can play it any time soon. I prefer laptops as well since I don't have the space for a desktop anywhere, aside from laptops being portable, though I know those are going to be behind their more powerful desktop counterparts.

To be clear about what I meant by the refund thing, I would want one if I don't get my physical rewards by the end of this year, since it feels like I just wasted $200 for nothing right now. Again here's to hoping they are delivered by the end of this year. Although if refunds don't ever happen on kickstarter, sigh. I really screwed up then. I suppose this is what I get for being naive.

Again, no offense, but laptops are not gaming devices. Expecting a game to run on a laptop that isn't explicitly designed for games (and even then, they won't be equivalent to a similar priced desktop) is unreasonable.

Using the 'Can I run it' site shows I'm just shy of 2 gigs of ram, and 1 gig of vram to meet the min specs. I can probably upgrade my ram but that's it, and I'm doubting that will do much. https://i.imgur.com/moSQixF.png

At least this laptop is still good enough for a modded Skyrim (which is the game I play most of the time anyways) on high settings with good fps (between 50-60), though I get that's an older game, even with mods in the equation. I don't play Saurian (or Skyrim for that matter) on full screen, not that it does much since I'm below the min specs anyways. I wish I knew how much it would cost just to get something that has the min specs. I honestly don't care about max fps either. I just want it playable, more then 10fps.  Though I'm also waiting to find out what the min specs are for the PC release of Final Fantasy XV to know what I'll need to play it (worst case scenario I still can play the PS4 version of that, but still).

Saurian isn't capable of 50 FPS yet, even dedicated modern gaming desktops are only getting around 30-35 with infrequent stutter. I imagine you'll probably get about that once it's better optimized, so don't worry to much for now.

I won't be able to play it either.

Yeah, my computer is like 7 years old or so.
