Megalosaurus

Hello.
I'm amazed by the painting skills of some of you; specially thumbs up for Martin & Cooper. Of course, I'd like to develop my own skills, so i can get ride of those uninspired paintjobs of many toy/models.
ANY advice is WELCOME :D . ANY constructive criticism is WELCOME :D . ANY comment is WELCOME :D . ANY tip & ANY trick is WELCOME.

I started to paint normal size chinasaurs, but the first one took me long time and i still dislike it. I don't even know where is it right now.
Started a second one, but took me too long (3 sessions ? hours), and i quit. (I stored it in a box for later).
So I got my mind clear and remember that I have a lot of tiny chinasaurs.
So I took a Styracosaurus.
This post is going to be the gallery/index. So go to the next post to see detail.

Styracosaurus

I haven't any image or partern at hand, I just painted on the go.
Most of the pictures were taken at night, so they are blurry and colour may be inaccurate.
I mixed yellow + white for the under belly, and Khaki + white + yellow for the rest of the body.

After a few coats i get this:

Then I mixed Khaki + terracota + white for the spots. Use more terracota and less white for the dorsal line and face marks:

In the end i put yellow + white spots on the head. Eyes are mixed green + Khaki + yellow. Horns are white + yellow, also I put a few white + terracota on the horn bases.

So here you are some pics:

I haven't did any darkwash. Should I do it? Should I use plain black, or a darker brown colour? What proportion of paint & water is ok for the darkwash?

Cute Styracco! *Is wanting to take home...*

Great start to custom painting, Megalosaurus, I'm diggin' the colour scheme. Keep practising, and you might just be as good as people like copper one day!
