It's interesting to read these opinions about digital editing- I agree with much from the comments and I think Federreptil's comment is especially well-put. All of the tools used in a diorama image can create a wide range of results, which is part of the fun. I haven't voted yet but so far there is no one factor that is drawing me to certain pictures.

In my past two entries I added a second dinosaur to the image by moving the model and taking another picture on-the-spot (and then combining the two), rather than one picture of two identical models (which I didn't have). So part of the challenge and satisfaction for me was trying to create a convincing scene with very limited "actors".

This might be a dumb question but I need to know for future reference. How do I resize a photo to 1000px wide to be eligible for contests? I often crop images but surely there is an easier way to make it precisely the right size. My camera doesn't offer this size and I can't find anything on all the photography programs on my computer that aren't just a tool for cropping. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.
In the end it was not guns or bombs that defeated the aliens, but that humblest of all God's creatures... the Tyrannosaurus rex.

You could resize the canvas, and then paste the image and select fit to canvas

Ah, thanks!

EDIT - God I'm stupid. You can resize images in good ol' Windows paint.

Yep, it's that easy. Also other softwares like Photoshop and Gimp (which is free) have the resize option. You just have to set the image to restrain proportions and set the value you want you photo to be wide wise. The height will be adjusted accordingly.

Hello.
I was thinking that it will be really nice if the next contest prices are the customization works of M. Garrat or Copper.
The winners should send their own models to the artists, the price is the artist customise them free.
Its just a general idea, can be improved.
