I couldn't find a topic on this company and just thought it would be nice to have one. If there's one already, feel free to delete this one.
I was looking for info on a few of my "chinasaur" models and found out that those weird mammal set that included a terror bird which nobody seems to know who's the manufacturer is actually from Waiphoon.
Someone said they were marketed by a company called Excite. I'm not sure about that, but Waiphoon lists them on this "catalog" shot in their official website. Take a look at the center of this picture, they are right there.

a few of these are actually pretty good, I have a set of pterosaurs by them, a tupandactylus, rhamphorynchus (pictured in that catalog shot), and a more generic pterosaur which was significantly lower quality than the other 2, which already were not amazing
but at $2 for my favorite animal (tupandactylus) I'm not complaining :P

and after seeing that catalog shot I think I have some of those farm yard birds (and some various bootlegs of them)

that terror bird frankly looks amazing, I'd love a close up of it

I have the Camarasaurus which is a knockoff of the Kaiyodo model of the same animal. It's an alright figure but with a horrid paint job. It is on my trade thread but I need to remove it. I think I will attempt a re-paint rather than get rid of it.

I'm not seeing the terror bird, no matter how hard I squint!  :(

I own the Kaiyodo Dinoland knock off Camarasaurus, the Liopleurodon, the Battat Styracosaurus knock off, and the Kaiyodo Dinoland Stegosaurus knock off. In particular the Stego is very odd, it looks as though it has a skin disease.

Here you go:

sweet!
the paint app is a tad plain (compared to the catalog variant), but it has some great potential
I'll keep an eye out for it, thanks ;)

If you look closely at the picture you can see a photo of the figure itself--it is pretty much the same colour. Always be wary of catalogue colouring.

And I still don't see either pliosaur they are known for.

Very cool, can't be too picky when it comes to phorusrhacid models. That said...I have none. I need to fix that.

You don't by any chance know where they might sell the pterosaur set, do you?

stargatedalek

I picked it up at a local "mom & pop" dollar store
so afraid not

Nice. That was a great find!

stargatedalek

sure, I've got a few things I've been meaning to get pics of ;)

Megalosaurus

Where can I buy waiphoon figures online? There aren't any Dollar stores in my country.
I have the Smilodon but want the whole set, and also interested in pterosaur set, Camasaurus & Styracosaurus.
Thank you.

I've looked but there doesn't seem to be a place where you can purchase them. Their website is for wholesale retailers only. I got mine from eBay, they pop up occasionally on there. That's the only advice I can really offer.

Roselaar

Waiphoon does have a few respectable figures to their credit. I like their oddly posed Velociraptor figure.

Anyone got a picture of the Tupandactylus? And is it really labeled as such?

stargatedalek

oh wait, if they are meant to be labelled than min might be bootlegs :P
I have it, I should have pics up tomorrow (stupid camera)

Is this the pterosaur set?

stargatedalek

thats definitely the tupandactylus mine came with, but it only came with it, the orange rhamphorynchus, and the green pterosaur front right
I'm getting more and more sure they are bootlegs, but the paint app does look identical

Hi.
Then post your pictures so those who have the original can compare and tell for sure if yours are bootlegs or not.

So they are these:

Pterosaur score - 8 decent new pterosaur toys.

I was quite blissed out by getting this set of 8 toys. As you can see they are larger than a "tube" figure. The Canadian Quater is for scale (about 1 inch/25mm in size).

What made me rather happy was that for chinasaurs they were quite nice and that there was a decent diversity of figures.

Ornithocheirus

Pteranodon

Tupandactylus

Dsungaripterus

Rhamphorhynchus

Scaphognathus

Dimorphodon

Campylognathoides

The lot of them

I did get a few extra sets so check out my new classified thread if you are interested.
