Based on my own personal measurements, these are the "true" scales for the Battat figures (minus the ones I don't have). I rounded them because obviously no sculpt is going to be 100% perfect.

NAME      -     SCALE      -      MODEL LENGTH      -      REAL LENGTH
Amargasaurus - 1:35   - 26cm - 9.5m
Carnotaurus sastrei - 1:30   - 2cm skull, 21cm total   - 60cm skull, 8.5m total
Ceratosaurus - 1:35   -   19cm   -   7m
Cryolophosaurus ellioti - 1:35   -   20cm   -   7m
Dacentrurus armatus - 1:40   -   17cm   -   7m
Dilophosaurus v. 1 - 1:35   -   20cm   -   7m
Edmontonia - 1:30   -   21cm   -   6.6m
Euoplocephalus tutus - 1:30   -   19cm   -   6m
Gallimimus bullatus - 1:40   -   15cm   -   6m
Nanshiungosaurus brevispinus - 1:35   -   18.5cm   -   5m
Ouranosaurus - 1:40   -   19cm   -   8m
Pachyrhinosaurus lakustai - 1:40      - 20cm   -   8m
Stegosaurus armatus (=ungulatus) - 1:45   -   20cm   -   9m
Styracosaurus albertensis - 1:40   -   14.5cm   -   5.5m
Triceratops horridus - 1:40   -   20cm   -   8m
Tyrannosaurus rex v. 1 - 1:35   4.25cm skull, 34cm total - 1.4m skull, 12.3m total
Tyrannosaurus rex v. 3 - 1:35   4.25cm skull, 34cm total - 1.4m skull, 12.3m total
Utahraptor ostrommaysei - 1:40   -   15.5cm   -   5.7m

I also have the Acro and Para, but I guess I never got around to measuring them! All these are measures along the top of the skull and curvature of the spine with measuring tape where possible. I tried to scale a few to skull length.

How ironic that the smaller animals are in a larger scale, seems some of those size differences were artificially inflated.

If the Battat T. rex figures are in 1:35 scale, is the Safari Ltd feathered T. rex not in 1:35 scale then? That thing is much bigger compared to the Battat Terra T. rex I own anyways, and I had thought that Safari Ltd T. rex was in 1:35 scale.

Edit: It is very helpful to have these scale comparisons and see how much it varies among them too. I wonder why.

No the Safari T.Rex is 1:35.   Its just bulkier because its based on more modern size reconstructions.

Euoplocephalus tutus - 1:30   -   19cm   -   6m

Okay, that explains things. I've always wondered about the size discrepency between the Battat and the Carnegie version, both of which are supposedly 1:40.

I don't have the Safari feathered rex so I'm not sure. It does look larger overall. If you want to know if it's only bulkier, measure the skull. If the measurement (about ear to snout tip) is larger than 4.3 cm, it's not 1:35. Just eyeballing it it looks closer to 1:30 or even 1:25 but without having it in hand I can't be sure.

Note that I scaled the Battat rex to Sue's skull. Some rexes might be SLIGHTLY bigger, but this is basically the absolute top range. Most rex specimens are a lot smaller. For example, if you scale the original Carnegie T. rex by skull to the holotype skull (which is the one they actually have at the Carnegie museum), it comes out to 1:25! It would be 1:40 if scaled to Sue.

For comparison, the Carnegie 10th anniversary rex is also 1:35 if scaled to Sue. Seems like more recent figures consistently make T. rex bigger than it really was.

The Battat combo packs are ridiculously cheap on Amazon right now! I got this 5-pack for only 10 bucks. The only downside is Battat stuffs them into a box that's perhaps a bit too small for all of them, so my Carnotaurus and Cryolophosaurus came out a bit warped. More detail on my blog, though I link to the Dino Toy Blog for reviews of individual species.

To me, this sure appears to be a sign that Battat is making a final purge of its last Lorusso Terras. A final sunset.

Faelrin

Guess I better get these asap then, particularly the 5 pack of small dinosaurs, and perhaps the medium set as well despite having the Parasaurolophus already, though I mainly just want the Euoplocephalus out of it.

Their electronic Utahraptor, Dilophosaurus, Carnotaurus, and Ceratosaurus, and the playsets are pretty cheap in case anyone is interested, but be warned they do suffer from screw holes much like Hasbro's JW figures did. At the very least the Dilophosaurus and Utahraptor may be of interest, considering how much the original versions of the Utahraptor and Dilophosaurus might go for these days.

Here's a quick link that might be of help:

My Battat Terra 5 pack of the smaller dinosaurs order from Amazon came yesterday. I really am glad to have these after so long, and for so cheap too (especially the Cryolophosaurus). Only downside is my Ceratosaurus and Carnotaurus have warped feet and legs from how crammed everything in there was. Should be easy to fix though.

The pic here features the Parasaurolophus and Tyrannosaurus I've had for a few years now (and one of my family's cats) for scale I guess.

I hope I can pick up the rest eventually too. Could be a bit before I get too it though (but hopefully next month or so), as I need to save some money for bills, and other figures, like the Wild Past Protoceratops, and the Mattel Jurassic World Charlie, Sauropelta, Postosuchus, Edmontosaurus, from Entertainment Earth (which have already seen several delays).

I also did some extensive reading in this thread (like the first 40 pages or so), and several others related to this (such as the new for 2015 one, which featured the Europasaurus, Gastonia, Gigantoraptor, Nasutoceratops, Pentaceratops, that to this day have not been released, sadly), and I am once again rather heartbroken about how Dan passed away, and I missed my chance to speak with him here, joining the forum too late, but at least his posts remain, and I was able to learn a bit about how he was as a person. If only he knew how much I could appreciate the work on this line, the models themselves, and his passion for it, despite his battle with cancer. I also find it unfortunate I was so late to discovering and coming to appreciate this line, as well as the original line, which I strangely missed out on, unless I was just too late for it, when I used to go on field trips to the Boston Museum of Science as a child when I still lived in NH in the late 90's and early 2000's. I also still find it unfortunate that some of his beautiful new sculpts finished of the ones mentioned earlier, and the repaints of the Edmontonia, Maiasaura, Ouranosaurus, Styracosaurus, Triceratops, and others, still have not been released and got out there if they ever will. I think it was the exclusivity/limited distribution, bad timing with JW, and his passing that contributed to it (such as that it may have been in poor taste to do so with him gone)? It is quite a shame as the originals of those are probably hard to come by these days, and are still some of the most accurate renditions of those animals created to date (unless Safari Ltd or CollectA ever do takes on them). Nonetheless I am grateful for what was released after all this time.

What version of Tyrannosaurus is the cheap Amazon listing selling?
Terra had 2 runs of the rex, the first had far superior, much more defined teeth. While the 2nd run had blunted human teeth.

One is considerably more glossy too, the later run, I believe.

So, random thought: has the Nanshiungosaurus been quietly 'retired'?

Just thinking because it's the only one left out of the Amazon bundles, and it's also the only one I've never seen at retail here in Australia. I mean I've also only seen the T. rex here once, but it's still being sold in those packs.

Likely - they disappeared from a variety of retail sites in N.A. a while back. Resales on eBay may be your best bet.

I would say it's likely, the other three Terra exclusives are common as roaches over here, especially at Toyworld & K-Mart, but I've never seen the Nanshiungosaurus.

I actually had a dream last night that I came across the Diplodocus in a gift shop somewhere. I was trying furiously to determine whether or not it was a knockoff.

What with the eBay pricing of this figure, encountering and acquiring one in a dream may be my only option. Nevertheless, hope lingers on ... .

The Nanshiungosaurus got retired just after one year, around the time when EverythingDinosaur got the chance to sell the line and fortunately they got a big stock of it (of course they also ran out of it years ago now).
The Cryolophosaurus also got retired like 2 years ago and the Amargasaurus circa a year ago. But now all of them got retired. I just hope that maybe now they will release the unreleased figures (I would buy all of them).
