Hi,

I am working on a diorama of a Tyrannosaurus rex (David Krentz, 1/40 scale) walking along a lakeshore with ferns, cykadophytes, swamp cypress etc.

Bye,

Bernd.

Even though the eyes aren't painted in yet your color scheme has really made that Krentz Rex come alive!

Thanks! I hope to get the eyes right, they are really important for the final impression of a model ... Bye.

Looking great so far. How did you make the cycad/palm tree thingy?

109

Hi,

The palm tree is a modified kit from Fredericus Rex :-) bye!

Hi all,

the mudcracks were made with a paste consiting of pigments, white glue and water.

Bernd.

Would love to see some progress photos or a more in-depth explanation of how you're making these plants, because this diorama is shaping up to be stunning. The palm fronds look like paper?

Hi,

the leafs are from Fredericus Rex, lasercut paper. I airbrushed them from darkgreen to bright green. I added some yellowed leafs and dried tips on some leafs by brush. These are my first plants, so I realised that you need rather bright colors and I repainted them with even brighter greens from tamiya. I painted the uppersides with gloss varnish. After they were fully dry I turned them around and placed the leaf on a soft rubber mat and used a rounded tool moved in strokes over the item. This curled the leafs in a nice realistc pattern.

HTH,

Bernd.

Hi,

will have to do some furhter plantts and will take some in-progress-pictures. Bye!!

Hi,

I made a swamp cypress (Taxodium sp.) and started to paint it, still not finished. I used urethane foam and magic sculpt for the surface of the stem and the aerial roots. Also ordered some clear resin for the water.

Bye,

BJW.

I love where you painted the rings of algae to show high water marks on the cypress

109

Thanks! Finished the algae rings by sprinkling on brigt and darkgreen paint to add details and breaking up the artificial appearance.

Bye,

BJW.
