I'd like to remind all members of forum rule number 3: only one account per person. Anyone found in breach of this rule will face a permanent ban. I should also note that we do have the means to find this out.

If we find that anyone is cheating (or attempting to cheat) in contest polls, this will result in disqualification, and the result will be corrected accordingly.

I don't believe so, it seems like a fairly standard thing to remind people of before a voting contest

Shocking! People creating fake accounts to stuff ballot boxes? This is why I don't trust online elections/voting. Never happens in real life.

alexeratops

Fair is fair. I don't see why anyone would do that but sometimes that's the way it is.
like a bantha!

On the original forum people would create fake accounts just to boost their Karma (or drop that of other people) so it rarely requires much incentive to cheat a system.

Hahaha .... memories .... but we still have the same problems on FB.  Good thing the young ones are techy!  :)

How do you know that?  Why create a fake account?  You could vote for karma or against it as many times as you wanted, and you were anonymous.

I cant remember exactly, but wasn't there some daily limit on karma. Maybe folks were trying to circumvent that. Anyway, karma was always a bad idea, that's why I haven't activated the feature on this forum.  :)

if someone making a lot of another account to vote their own contest stuff, true love vote of thousands of members of the forum will pick the real winners :p

What was karma?

It was supposed to show one person´s popularity, credibility, how authentic he/she was, and to give persons a possibility to give others points concerning the features above - that sort of thing. I never really was a friend of it, so I was quite happy when it did not matter anymore.

Wow, karma, that was five or so years ago...

docronnie

We had that Karma thing on the Marvel Battle Dice forum. I was already getting a few of them and making a lot of collectors happy through trading, unfortunately the owner closed down the forum.

Again, a reminder. We take this rule seriously and will take action.

We invite any members who may be in breach of this rule to come forward (e.g drop me a pm), in which case, we will be more lenient.
