Great work with the Dimorphodon. I absolutely love how it turned out.

Nice CollectA haul as well. It's nice seeing all of the new invertebrates they've done together. Great bunch of figures.

September 2020 new acquisitions:

Also today a big box from David Krentz was at my door finally... are you, Regina ?  ;D  ;)

:)

Fenestra

I'm happy to read that David Krentz's Regina finally arrived. What a beautiful model. I'm going to take a wild guess and persume you will have it painted by Martin? Can't wait to see what it will look like after he touched it with his magic.  ^-^

I know that Martin Garratt takes less commissions now.
I will ask to him hoping he could paint my Regina Mundi.
Otherwise I'll send to someone else.. :'(
Usually I like realistic and natural looking colorations but I saw this on the web (from a China artist):

What do you think?
:)

Fenestra

Because the model is so good, I think any paint scheme will look great on it.
But the one you are showing is mindblowing!  :o

ceratopsian

The Chinese paint scheme is striking. The only part I am less sure about is the "eye makeup".

Whatever scheme you choose, the model will look good I think.

..I think it's time for new pictures..  :))

Nice new additions, beautifully lit as always. The new CollectAs are particular standouts.

avatar_RobinGoodfellow @RobinGoodfellow I congratulate you on your new acquisitions. They are all very pretty. By the way Robin, where can you find that baby bullyland mammoth from the Stuttgar Museum? I am interested in that figure.

On last June Bullyland sold few figures from new 2020 batch.
I found one of them on Ebay by a shop in Germany.
Now it's out of stock.
I think you'll have to wait for the second batch..
:)

triceratops83

That's a beautiful display for the Lisowicia. Also, I like the colouring on the Recur Basilosaurus.
In the end it was not guns or bombs that defeated the aliens, but that humblest of all God's creatures... the Tyrannosaurus rex.

Faelrin

Excellent new additions. I particularly like the diorama/custom base with the Lisowicia and the Safari Ltd Chasmatosaurus/Proterosuchus, and the group shot of all the new CollectA invertebrates.

I think that Basilosaurus is one of Recur's finest releases so far too.

To me following this thread feels like a getaway. What a stunning, mind-blowing collection!

Thank you very much for the extremely kind words   ^-^  :))

The Lisowicia looks made for that base.  And the expression on its face is perfectly suited to finding another animal in its path!

All are beautiful photographs.

.. And Now for Something Completely Different : a comic   >:D

I have this italian comic in my collection since my childhood.
It's titled "Viaggio nella Preistoria" ("A travel into Prehistory") from a comic series called "Il Piccolo Ranger" ("Young Ranger").
It's from 1976..  O:-)

And it's full of vintage paleo-art, mainly "inspired" by Burian.
Also the plot is inspired by movies like "The Land that Time Forgot", "At the Earth's Core", "Journey to the Center of the Earth" and "The Lost World".

Originally this was a "western" comic based on a young sheriff; but this episode it's about the discovery of a hidden valley full of prehistoric creatures (...mmhmm... Gwangi;) ).

Of course it's in italian language; but the story is very simple:

The Young Ranger, his old friend and a naturalist are following a villain inside a strange, isolated valley where they catch him.
The valley is isolated from the rest of the world by a magnetic barrier.
Inside the valley they find prehistoric animals.

During the night the villain escapes from custody.

So they have to follow him into this prehistoric world.

Obviously there is a close encounter with a Tyrannosaurus..  ::)

To escape from T Rex they go into a cave full of..

..flying reptiles nests..

There is a fight but they win.

But not all dinosaurs are bad:

They find that the valley is not totally separated from the rest of the world.
Maybe more evolved species could exist inside the valley.
So they meet a sort of Dinosaurs-Sapiens with a leader:

They're still searching for the villain but there is a lake:

..and a prehistoric shark lives in it..

The shark easily destroys the boat but they're saved by the Dino-Sapiens:

The Ranger and his friends are captured by them:

Unfortunately at the time I didn't buy the next episode so I don't know how the story ends.
But I can imagine:  >:D

Interesting comic Robin. Those dinosaurs and that black and white comic also remind me of my childhood days. Beautiful memories.

ceratopsian

I would have loved having this as a child!  I liked feeding the Iguanodon with the plant.  Nice to see a dicynodont too, not to mention a bennettitalean making an appearance!  I'm glad they didn't shoot the Triceratops!  And as for the "dinosapiens" in the boat with their harpoons!

I would have wanted the next part!

I've always been fascinated by "tableau" illustrations like these:

Recently I found a very small book full of "plateau" art (..but with very few text  :-[ ).
It's titled LIFE THROUGH TIME  by DK LONDON.

Here some illustrations:

Comic's Triceratops is taken from a well-known (in Italy) 1:1 (vintage) model from NHM of Milano.
There is also a (rare) figure by Orsenigo.
