Another beauty. Congratulations.  8)
The two model kits work really well together as a diorama.
Were they originally made to form a diptych?

No.
Synthetoceras (1:8 ) is a resin kit while Smilodon (1:6) is a vinyl kit; but they work very well together..  ^-^
Originally I was searching for the Xenosmilus resin kit (1:10) by Sean Cooper but it's out of stock and discontinued (even at Alchemy Works..).

So I decided for the vinyl Smilodon by Cooper that's quite similar.  ::)

Synthetoceras was from the Miocene period in North America.
Xenosmilus was from the Paleocene (Irvingtonian) period in Florida.
Smilodon was from Miocene to Pleistocene period in North and South America.

So Synthetoceras+Smilodon is more realistic.  ^-^
(One of the last Synthetoceras with one of the first Smilodon  :P )

Aha, thank you for your thorough explanation.  ;D
It's amazing how much the Xenosmilus kit and Smilodon look alike at first glance.
The pose I mean.
For your diorama I actually like the Smilodon better, because it is in a more leaping position, while the Xenosmilus is in a rearing position.

Usually collectors love the Sideshow Dinosauria line.
I love it too but (unfortunately) I don't have enough space for such big figures.  :'(
Also discontinued Sideshow figures are quite pricey (and not-so-easy to find..).
But there are Sideshow figures you cannot resist: Deinosuchus vs. Parasaurolophus is one of them to me.  ;)
Here it is:  n. 247/250 (..and my 2nd Sideshow..)

I really have to thank you all for watching this thread.  :)
My thread has reached the 4th position in the collections section of DTF with 40.588 view.  8)
It's an honor to be in the same top five with great collectors like Postsaurischian (probably THE best collection on DTF) and Roselaar.
Thanks a lot:))
I'm pleased that a lot of you like to watch my pictures.   ^-^
And I'll try to do my best to update my thread as soon as possible with new figures (despite I'm running out of space fast at my home..  :'(  ).
Thank you so much.

As always my full collection is entirely on Flickr ( https://www.flickr.com/photos/130140542@N03/albums/72157650140713189 ) with 1223 pictures and 13 pages of prehistoric/extant and fantasy figures.
Enjoy.  ;)

Best Regards
Fabio

..and finally my last commission to Sir Martin Garratt: Sean Cooper's Smilodon (1:6).
Mr. Garratt also sculpted an incredible base for the figure.
I really love this piece: it's just wonderful  8)
