Dont let yourself get rushed on this piece. Take your time and make sure you get as much detailing in before the final.bake. these figures are turning out excellent! Keep up the good work. You can use a heat gun to lock in details in small areas without doing a full on bake on the model if you find that its difficult to prevent smudging. Test this method on another piece of clay of about the same thickness and see how it works before attempting it on the model. I am eager to see the next progress report.

thanks Archinto. doing my best to make this sculpture the best it could be and atm, is the largest and most detailed sculpture i ever made thus far. thanks for the suggetion for the heatgun. currently, i don't own one but it is a interesting technique.

wrinkles for days on the tyrannotitan

Looking nice. The wrinkly texture reminds me of my bearded dragon when he's curled around to sleep.

thank you guys :)

i do plan to feather up this sculpture, not sure on how though :/ still sketching conept art on this guy and i just cant decide in what way to feather it. i'm not planning topull a fast one and feather only the top of the neck or something, but i also don't want it to look like a giant ratite or a weird mammal. still thinking it through. in the meantime, i am sculpting areas that i do plan on representing bare skin, wrinkles, and scaled areas.

i cannot tell you how many pictures of lizards and certain birds i looked at in order to get the neck looking like this. i think i did look at bearded dragons once. i mostly relied on monitor lizards, iguanas, storks, and vultures for reference material.

Looking great! Love the texture! And I usually feather my carcharodontosaurids very scantly, with only some on the back of the neck, and the arms.

I would avoid over feathering this figure. Seems everyone has been jumping hard on the feather bandwagon. If i were to add feathers id do them off the spine and maybe draping down slightly. Ive always viewed t rex as having no feathers, but i think what ever you decide to do will look amazing! Just continue taking your time as you are. Its looking awesome!

yeah, i do plan on feathering the sculpture, but i'm adding some variety to the concept though. the last thing i want is for it just to be listed as a mere conservative representation if the animal. i planning on trying to get a more grizzly bear look with the feather orientation and the fact that my tyrannotitan has a speculative ridge the goes along the neck would surely make it a more interesting take on feathered dinosaurus compared to others

20 minutes in the beginning process of feathering the sculpture.... i will work with it more, i swear. lol
