Getting really excited for these!  Does anyone if and for how long they'll be available to order after they start shipping out?

Most of them should be available for order after the Kickstarter shipment. However, I think he's getting a fixed number manufactured, and when they run out, they run out.

I asked him on Facebook how long they would be available (at least I think that was my question) and this was the answer he gave:

"Hi Alex- No set date yet as to how long the preorder store will remain open, but it should remain up for about another month or so. After that you'll be able to order remaining product (which will be limited) from my website which is being set up now. Prices may increase a little after the figures are released"

So if you're looking at any in particular I'd be safe and get them sooner rather than later!

Noted.  So it's back to the preorder store I go!  :))

New packaging and paint samples look awesome!

New pictures of the Xenoceratops were posted on the FB. Looks like it is almost done. I like the look of the large scales along the spine, and the ones on the body.

Over the past month, David has been taking several photo-shoots of his raptors. Since I know that some of you don't have Facebook, I've picked my favorites to share : 3

New photoshoot for Saurornitholestes sullivani. This thing is just too cute. Makes me wish I had more money to buy it.

This is the Red veriant velociraptor. I'm super happy with this one! I'm getting it and I can't wait.

Adasaurus! This one has a wonky eye. I contacted David about this and he said he called that out to the factory. It shouldn't be a problem :3

I really love how versatile those accessory packs are. I'm really hoping I can get the other two I didn't order previously before they are shipped. The deco samples here look like they turned out really well too.

Thank you for sharing these! There's only so much one can glean from lurking on FB >:D It's great to see them, not too much longer to wait, now...hopefully!

I know right! I don't have any right now, but I'm really tempted to get the desert pack since all my boys are velociraptors

The pleasure's all mine! It just felt sad to see the thread go quite while the FB was so active. Also, I didn't know if people with-out a FB could see these, so I'm posting them just to make sure.

Balaur bondoc! This one really does look bird like. Really cool how the bases all come together like that.

Sim

I didn't get the Balaur, but I have to say it looks very nice.  I find the paint sample looks nicer than the resin prototype in some areas, e.g. the larger wings and the colouration on the snout.

That red Velociraptor I find unpleasant to look at though.  Its colouration looks very unnatural.  For example: The cream colour used on feathers of its face continues without any change on featherless parts of the snout.  Then at the end of the snout the skin suddenly turns black, which looks unusually mammal-like.  On the lower arm, feathers are cream on top and become red further down, but on the upper arm this is reversed - it looks weird to me.  Probably the worst part is the random asymmetrically placed white feathers on the wings and tail.

The red Velociraptor is meant to be a variant of the blue Velociraptor, with the colour placements being the same in the two figures, with only the actual colours used being different.  The details of the red Velociraptor's colouration I mentioned I feel look unnatural all come from the blue Velociraptor.  Quite some time ago, another Kickstarter backer told David that the two paint jobs Matt Holt had done at the time (the blue Velociraptor and grey Saurornitholestes) looked unnatural due to random coloured feathers being asymmetrically placed and showed examples of how bird feathers aren't normally like that.  This was discussed earlier in this thread in Reply #886: http://dinotoyblog.com/forum/index.php?topic=3573.msg146282#msg146282

From what David said, I got the impression the randomly coloured feathers on those two figures would be fixed in the production stage, but it looks like this isn't the case, especially since when David did the paintjob for the red Velociraptor much later, he replicated asymmetrical random coloured feathers from the blue Velociraptor.  After that feedback about the random coloured feathers was given, Matt Holt improved his paintjobs by a lot, producing amazing paintjobs e.g. Adasaurus and Linheraptor.

I feel David is a great guy, and I REALLY appreciate him making a number of excellent theropod figures (mostly dromaeosaurids) that have been needed very much.  I have no interest in getting the blue Velociraptor, red Velociraptor and grey Saurornitholestes, and I understand that there are people who like the paintjobs of these three figures and buy them as they are.  I do feel it's a pity though that their paintjobs don't have the same high quality as the paintjobs of the other figures currently in this series.  Especially the red Velociraptor, as it lacks the interesting blue colouration of the blue Velociraptor and has that garish red instead.  Fixing the randomly coloured feathers would've helped quite a bit I think.

Has anyone ordered the nestlings? I am debating on getting them but 35 CAD seems a bit steep considering they aren't that well detailed.

I will be getting the amber color nestlings. I ordered them when I ordered the scarlet Velociraptor osmolskae. When all said and done I will have the desert set,  Velociraptor mongoliensis,  amber nestlings, and the red Velociraptor osmolskae.  I really can't wait for them to come.

I wasn't sure about the nestlings until he put the Velociraptor osmolskae variant for pre-order. My logic was if the desert set comes with a nest with eggs and I only have one adult I don't need the nestlings. So I will be using the Velociraptor osmolskae as a male to the Velociraptor mongoliensis.  I figured he said it just the same mold as mongoliensis just painted in different colors.  That reminds me I need to get a new bookcase for them.

If you don't want to spend that much for them,  then you don't have to get them. I feel the nature sets are worth getting then the nestlings. They come with a hatchling anyways.

I'm hoping some reviews of these fine feathered furies are submitted soon!
