QuoteExperimental analysis will be required to
determine the true function of the plesiosaur tail, and
the exact outline of the dermal tail fin in different
plesiosaurian clades remains speculative pending the
discovery of specimens with
preserved soft tissues.

This leads me to the conclusion it is a possibility but there is no 100% proof of it. If Mr. Smith says otherwise I will certainly add one though.

Paleogene Pals

Hi Blade, made a donation. It wasn't a large one, but I can make small donations periodically. Hope it helps.

Paleogene Pals

Have you thought having someone 'adopting' one of your dinos?  In other words, someone could donate toward the bulk of the cost, and there would some recognition of that person in your park, kind of like buy a brick or something. A little piece of prehistoric immortality. Or is this something you already do? Which would be embarrassing for me.  :-[

Got it! Thanks bud, very much appreciated! I guarantee it will help, that's one more 50lb tub of screws for us to build with for example. :)

We've considered it..I'm just not sure how to go about getting word out about it. I thought schools might be interested..but so far we haven't had but one local school even interested in visiting the Park...not sure just why yet..I went through all the proper channels. Maybe as we continue to grow we will garner more group interest.

Looking great! I like the faint scaly texture on the nothosaur - is that something that's inherent in the vinyl you use to cover them?

Manatee

Very nice! The eyes really add something. Nothosaurus is such a toothy animal; I bet the visitors will love it, given as to how theropods with giganto-teeth are the most popular dinosaurs.

Yes it is, a result of the heating process, it's smooth until heated and shrunk gives all our dinos a nice fine scale texture. :)

I think so..to be honest I've loved Nothosaurus since I was a kid. I had the old Rourke books that featured one. I loved the idea of being a toothy amphibious animal..so much so my beach trip that year I pretended to be one..lol  The thought has crossed my mind every time I get into a body water since..so..yeah..had to. lol

Also, the name "Nothosaurus" rolls off the tongue. Yeah, it's kinda like a giant newt. Love the eyes BTW!
In the end it was not guns or bombs that defeated the aliens, but that humblest of all God's creatures... the Tyrannosaurus rex.

Paleogene Pals

Aaah! The big one with the black vinyl head is going to give me nightmares.  :o  Nice job on the sculpt; the eyes are perfect with it.

The eyes are actually crocodile eyes...I didn't want to use alligator again so figured these would do the job.  The ones in the Plesiosaurs are actually Leopard Frog eyes or so it says i nthe catalog..personnally I think they look like those big green jungle tree frogs you see in pet stores..uh waxy something or other frogs? Anyway they sort of glow..pretty sweet I think. :)

Skinning the first plesiosaurus now, should have a pic tomorrow I think.

Meso-Cenozoic

Nice eye choices! And those heads look menacingly marvelous!! >:D

heh heh...thanks!  ;D

Like the Velociraptor heads, I actually can make and sell these plesiosaur heads if anyone wants one. Just have to figure up the cost.  :)

Blade-of-the-Moon

One of our two juvenile Apatosaurs , will be displayed with their mom later this year, now showing the eyes installed. Working on the other one now.

I couldn't really find a good reference for a juvenile Apatosaurus at this age either so I scaled down the adult head with some blunted features.

Blade-of-the-Moon

one plesiosaurus done..one to go!

You've got me curious about the eyes now - what are those in the Apatosaurus baby?

My catalog just lists them as Hazel, suitable for Bear, Boar, Coyote and Wolf.

Odd that mammalian eyes work so well for Dinosaurs. Wouldn't it suck if we found out they had googly eyes like a sock puppet?

I wouldn't worry about schools not doing tours. As you get more attention, they will come around. Looking at your dinosaurs, there is a lot of educational value there, especially with the raptors. I'm just a lowly state employee but will try to send funds your way when I can. Maybe, one day, I could adopt a small dino.

I hope so, we're hoping to help them as well. I know they don't have the budget they need either. Anything you want to do will be a big help to us. We struggle to buy screws ans 2x4s even ( darn things are almost 3.00 each/Apato has around a 100 in her for example) That would be great! We'll have plenty to choose from. :)
