Great pose, Chris!

Thanks bud, something a bit more action oriented.  The smaller the piece  I can usually do more with like this.. larger ones tend to be more static.

Yep good ol' Deinonychus!  We really need a good up to date replica of this guy..he's so different than what we grew up with in the 80's-90's..basically that was  JP Raptor. Found it a bit challenging to figure him out without a good 3D reference, but I think he'll be cool now...I actually can't believe no toy company has done an up to date one.   Ours is 8' long, which according to Scott is more typical of the species than the 11' I found elsewhere.

Favourite did a toy in their first 'soft model' series (now retired). It's decent, but not the best. They also made a very similar resin figure, as did Creativebeast (the latter available from Dan's Dinosaurs).

My skeletal was :

Looking at them David's has a more classic skull design though feathered.  The Favorite pieces are closer but the head is a little small. You could chalk that up to diversity of course.  Not that I'm a huge technical expert either, just using my artist's eye here.

Really hoping so! I really don't want to cut any corners, just depends if we get enough funds. The plates are the biggest issue and will take a bit more pricey materials to get to look right, but I'm sure it will work out!

None of those have got the wings right; they all feature either missing or misplaced primary feathers. Generally, even when companies have decided to give their dromaeosaurs feathers, they've been inexplicably hesitant to bother with the wing anatomy. Very few exceptions spring to mind.
Chris, given your success with Velociraptor and Oviraptor, I'm sure your Deinonychus will be exceptional! :)

Indeed - I wasn't saying they were perfect. It's a sad fact of dinosaur toy life. :(

Looking forward to seeing progress shots of that - there's no denying that Therizinosaurs are awesome. Weird, but awesome. :)

I'll post up some pics, I have them attached and unpainted now. I  looks kind of like a big short legged ostrich with eagle wings.. lol

While on the subject of Deinonychus and feathers, I 've seen some artists attach longer feathers to the feet..is that still valid? Or is there any reasoning behind or merely an artistic choice?

Meso-Cenozoic

Wow, Chris, some of the newer ones are just incredibly well done! Love the Oviraptors and the Ceratosaurus. So many new ones to look at! Excited about the Dimetrodon and Quetz!

My time online is so limited nowadays mostly due to this move and everything involved with it. But I always make sure I take a peak at your thread when I do get on. It always puts a smile on my face! :)

Thanks bud! I'm really digging this new method I have of doing these guys, lets me get a lot more of the true body shape in there even if it is a tad bit pricier. It reduces the weight and lets me be more precise. ;)

The Nothro might get done this week, I've ordered the eyes for the Dimetro and Quetz, though the Dimetrodon will be last..he's just a foam head currently..lol Once the Quetz and Deinonychus are done we'll open the trail ( way ahead of schedule).

Here are some painted Pachy pics :

Meso-Cenozoic

Mr. Pachy turned out great! Love the color patterns too! In that setting, he looks so life-like. :D

Good to hear you're also ahead of schedule. You hardly ever hear that from anyone! LOL! Wish I could say the same for me. My friend, whose house I'm moving into, just informed me she might not be able to leave till next month sometime. Unfortunately, I can't do any of the major fixings in there until she gets her stuff out. Ugh! :P

Thanks! Our move into the woods here was exactly a result of my desire to place pieces where there are no fences or un-natural objects...or at least very few of them.

I built heads and hands inside over winter and that put me ahead of schedule. The plan was to open this area in 2016 but it's come along so well I'm hoping to make a mid-summer announcement. The Stegosaurus is something I'd like to start next month too but only if we raise enough for it.

Man, I hate complications including last minute changes..those drive me up the wall. Waiting on others bug me too..I'm a sort of take charge personality I guess.  I tend to thrive on gettign things done. Too slow and I even berate myself.. heh
