Wow, now your going to make a life-size Spinosaurus (front half). Are you going off of the 50ft estimate, or the 60ft estimate? Either way it will look awesome when its finished!

I didn't pay a lot of attention to the full length, the largest skull estimate is, I think, 5'8" so I rounded this one off to 6'.   I hope so, it's a ton of work. due my inability to cast things I'm making each tooth individually. it's taken me most of the day to make the upper set.

Six foot is a reasonable estimate, since we don't really know the full size of the animal. One of the fun things about recreating dinosaurs is speculation! (in reasonable ways, that is)

Totally agreed!

Spinosaurus teeth, upper sets done!

Mamasaurus

Looking great! And you must have incredible patience to make all those teeth by hand.

I hope you don't mind my asking, but how to you figure out how large to print your reference there?  I would like to be able to sculpt a few scale models, but I have no idea how to make sure a skeletal prints out in the scale I want it to be (1:40 for example).

Looking good! With a head like that, it might end up being the most frightening addition to your park.

lol it's funny you should say that..as I've been procrastinating over the lower sets because the uppers were  such a huge pain.

For 1:1 it's not bad. I just look up the size of the particular part like a skull. If I do need to scale up a reference I take a part I do know the size is, say the skull in this case.  I take a piece of paper, lay it against a print of the skeleton, put marks at each extreme tip and mark it 6' in this instance.  Then I fold the paper making  new mark, that's three feet, fold again, that's half of that and so on. Then I can roughly figure up any skeleton printed on a standard size.  I can also use a program like Paint to trim around a certain part then take it to Office Depot and have it printed 1:1 I just tell them 6'.

If you know the final length at whatever scale you are trying a copy/print center usually has software that print it for you. you just need the length and the largest file size you can find for detail.

So you're working on a Stegosaurus at the same time as the Spinosaurus? You must be busy!

Well I finished my work on the Steg a few weeks ago, just no more i can do..it's all high up work. since then I've made a Masiakasaurus , it's ready for paint.  A juvenile Allosaurus is also on the table along with the Spino.

All the time..much is my own choosing..but i was swamped last year. we did parties, events, build 15 new dinos..just crazy.   Today I put in a full day of work moving stone, tearing down fences, and moving dinosaurs to make way for this new parking space. I'm dead, but at least we're making progress. I see a couple ibuprofen  in my future.

good luck!!!!!
