That's what that kid gets, wearing flip flops around dinosaurs! Can't run worth a damn in those things.

I would imagine that it's a good year for your clown attraction considering how things are right now with these clown sightings.

well...not really. When I heard this I thought " this will be great advertising or it will hurt us..a lot. "  thus far we were down to about 27 from last year's 83.

it usually does, though if we stay with the same percentages from last year to this year we'll be making less than half what we did.   I'll pay a few bills then we'll still be in the red. :/

Hey, Blade, How'd your Halloween go?
In the end it was not guns or bombs that defeated the aliens, but that humblest of all God's creatures... the Tyrannosaurus rex.

hey bud, not too bad, we increased by a few this year at the end, 755 this year compared to about 740 total attendance last year.  once all bills were paid we made a couple thousand. not bad, but we put a lot of time into it and money...and we still are way short of what we need to get all the county wants done here.

haunt aside, i watched some awesome Halloween movies all month, got a lot of inspiration for 2017 haunt-wise too.  I'm building up some dino drive now too..but one thing the zoning director beat me up over last june was me still adding more dinosaurs even though i needed funds for these projects they want.  basically i was told not to build anymore it felt like. :/

You should build a likeness in dummy form of the zoning director and have it hanging out of the jaws of one of your theropods. See how he likes that... Or have him sitting on a toilet in front of your Tyrannosaurus, JP style.

lol that would be a great stress reliever!  Though i'm sure she wouldn't approve... heh heh

Hey, did you investigate the State Arts Grant option any further? It sounded to me like a possible opportunity worth exploring. It might not mean much to the powers that be, but if a statement of support from a genuine palaeontologist could add any value, know I'd be happy to write a few words for such an application. Or, if there's anything else I can do, please ask. You help out the DTF so much, it would be a pleasure to return the favour.

Blade-of-the-Moon

Thanks bud, that means a lot.  TThe last i checked in sept only rolling grants were available and none of them fit our needs.  There to be more categories open now , i might need to ask my aunt, who is a local teacher how to go about it. i tend to need to be shown what to do in unfamiliar waters.  I also  needed to set us up as a non-profit ( that would open up more doors for us ) and i really need someone to walk me through it or do it for us and just tell me what i need to provide.

Blade-of-the-Moon

ok talked to aunt and we looked it over, seems the first step is to register so i did here : http://tnartscommission.org/new-online-grants-system/apply-online/

Some of you may have heard about the wildfires that threatened Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg, both are about 2 hours from me.  So we have smokey air but not much else.  The winds were harsh last night though and I'm replacing roofing, fixing signs back up, and clearing debris. We had one 80' tree fall about 10' from the Spinosaurus. I hope to rent equipment and help and get it cleared.

Blade-of-the-Moon

Was able to register and then edit my profile, I had no idea there so many different numbers for districts, houses, ect.., I hate the government..lol

That done I guess I just apply somewhere?

DinoToyForum

Good on you for registering as a non-profit. That's an important first step! 8)
