Rex updates :

Nice! Is it going to be black still, as a finished model??

Nice job! I like the bumps on its skull, it's a unique design.

Agreed. I'm going to keep that in mind for my drawing. I've gotten MUCH better with it, I just never get the time to scan and print it.

Thanks guys !

I'm a big fan of osteoderms..I figure Rex would have had nice thick ones on the skull to protect it from damage as much as possible.  I mean T-Rex took an awesome amount of damage to the skulls we've found and still kept on living. That's amazing to me and wanted to show maybe what attributed to that with an artistic flair.

Sorry Alexeratops. I missed your question up there.

It will not be black when done. I'm leaning towards reds, browns, darker markings..maybe a cream colored underbelly ?  I'm also considering some blue-ish markings about the head.

I have a friend who is doing some concept art for me so I should be able something on coloration soon.   I will say I was a BIG fan of the old Dinamation Rex.

Rex arm sculpting :

It's really cool seeing just how big and muscled these "puny " arms really are !

Who said Rex arms were tiny!? XD

lol you hear it all the time !

I mean looking at a 1:40 figure they look small..but at 1:1..just awesome. I'm not arm wrestling the guy that's for sure ! ;)

Blade-of-the-Moon

Okay paleo friends, this my Rex arm so far. It's well muscled I think...maybe too much ? I just want to get some feedback on it. Most of my models and such they look so small on.

Spinosaurus Aegyptiacus

Wow. Looks great. I'd agree, probably a little on the muscly side, but it'll look amazing, I'm sure. Can't wait to see the whole thing together.

Blade-of-the-Moon

I'd done some reading saying they were very well muscled..but it's hard to figure the extent without a 1:1 Rex arm bone to work off of.

I did use measurements on the thickness and length from Hartman's skeletal. So hopefully I'm close.

A lot of people think because T.rex had tiny arms, they were weak and useless. Well, that's true to an extent, but they were still quite well muscled. The bones show a lot of areas where muscles would be attached (muscle scars?), as well as a thick cortical bone and biceps that were capable of lifting over 400lbs by itself :)

Indeed. I saw once a picture comparison of a man's arm and a Rex arm-though basically the same length, the Rex's arm was, well, "slightly" thicker.

I see we read the same articles TQ .. lol   My Rex arm so far is about as thick around as my calf muscle. I think basically this is my Juv. Gorgosaur arm blown up quite a bit.

We're assuming it's not visible on an animal with a lot of meat on the bones. It's probably shrunken in to the extent of our tailbones...it's there but no real outward appearance of it.

It's vestigial and buried in the flesh of the arm.
